If you stay in Serbia until May 1, come to Palic, there will be 100,000 people and an carnival. Serbian Orthodox Easter is on May 2, and you must not miss it. From Subotica, go to Sombor. Restaurants are opening.

Not so nice in winter and early spring time. But, starting from late April on, with green budding and leafing, with warm sun, flowers, Palich could be amazing. You could ride bikes, row boats, just soak in the sun and fresh air, there are nice architecture old houses, good restaurants. Serbia is generally best in spring everywhere. There are also salashes with domestic animals, horse-riding, varied wonderful food, domestic traditional specialties.

@@agnesmeszaros-matwiejuk8783 I would tend to believe that the Hungarian word szallas comes from French salle, Germanic sal or Slavic word selo for village. Proto-Germanic *salą (“dwelling, house, hall”), from Proto-Indo-European *sel- (“human settlement, village, dwelling”).

The architecture is mainly designed by architects from Nish. It is original Serbian architecture. Some of the inspiration is drawn from older ethnic designs of houses and villages. Then later with the liberation of Serbia, most influence came from Russian arhitecture, and towards the north, a bit of Austro-Hungarian inspiration. in the early 20th century, king Aleksandar I was a big speaker for the starting of a neobyzantine style together with the Russians. The church of Saint Sava in Belgrade is built in this style for example.
