The BMW M4 CSL is the ultimate lightweight track monster. It's a stripped-down, stripped-out version of the M4 Competition that's been designed to be as fast and agile as possible on a racetrack. The M4 CSL is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbocharged straight-six engine that produces 543 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The M4 CSL can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 190 mph. The M4 CSL features a number of lightweight components, including a carbon fiber hood, roof, and trunk lid. Thats because the hood isn’t closed properly. With new BMW Hoods you have to close them in a certain way for both locks to close

No. They don’t. It’s not an option whatsoever on the CSL…. You can’t get it even if you buy it straight from the factory… they literally clip the power seat wiring from the harness for weight savings 🤦‍♂️🤡 YOU CAN get power seats in EVERY M4 EXCEPT this one. Even the CS. But you CANNOT get power seats in the CSL. Period.

Right. When the first gen M4s were initially released, I thought the inline 6, sounded horrible, especially compared to the V8 the M3 had in the previous gen. But as time went on and people started installing better sounding exhausts, I grew to like them. This one in the video isn’t bad but could sound better IMHO.

@@joshroi8610 The lock is not properly engaged. Since the hood is made of carbon fiber and has gas springs, you can't just let it close, you have to push it down at the corners so that the locks engage. A panel gap like this would be noticed during the inspection and would be remedied.

CSL used to mean Coupe Sport Licht (lightweight) back when the original 3.0 CSL was out. Nowadays it stands for Competition Sport Lightweight according to some quick research I have done, though for the example of the M4 CLS, it still means Coupé Sport Leichtbau which is very confusing. Some say that CSL meaning coupe wasn’t possible due to the M5 CS being a 4 door so the belief that it meant competition sport started there So basically my guess is, if it’s a coupe, it stands for coupe sport lightweight, if it’s a 4 door, it stands for competition sport lightweight

It’s called the CSL because it’s essentially the anniversary model for the CSL brand all other top spec models of M car are branded “CS” “CSL” is just a special edition car. Unique individual colours and decals.

yeah that's the reason.. the real thing is every manufacturer has to make a performance extreme car, then there's only certain extreme + like the gtr M3 or /m3 csl and it's only done by and offered to the wealthiest clients, that keep it encased in a "look how rich I am" box never unleashing the beast, that's why.. cause no manufacturers ever considered these clients to be racers or enthusiasts..

@drizzyluke I noticed that too. I'm certain the hood isn't fully closed and is only fully latched on the driver's side. I have the same car. If you don't nearly slam the hood shut, it does this.

He’d smoke me in a dig, but I have my fun while using the steering wheel. Happy to relinquish a few tenths of a second for all the fun I have nailing rev matches and heel-toe downshifts.

I had a 2020 M2 Competition with a manual, and Car & Driver actually did 0-60 a tenth of a second faster with the manual than they did in the auto because the manual was a 6 speed. So it could get to 60 in 2nd gear and the auto couldn't. I traded it for one of the new auto RS3s, but I still miss the clutch daily. You have way more control and they're far more fun, but unfortunately the younger generations don't know how to drive them so they're disappearing.

Bro....CSL stands for Club Sport Limited. Club Sport for the enthusiasts and Limited Editions like CSL for the hardcore enthusiasts. CSLs most times go higher in value because of their limited production.

Completely wrong. According to BMW M GmBH it stands for: Competition Sport Leichtbau (Competition Sport Lightweight) for the M4CSL. The old M3csl was Coupe Sport Leichtbau. The M4CS G82 as example is Competition Sport. There is no BMW with a Club Sport label since Club Sport is a naming right that the VW/VA Group owns!

here in singapore we have only 1 unit going for 988,000 SGD which is about 730,500 USD. For a normal M4 (non competition), it is about 500,000 SGD which is about 371,800 USD. A Prius here is going for 194,000 SGD or about 143,438 USD. Lol. so if you drive a Prius in SG, u can own the M4CSL in the states.

140 large... I'm not so sure I'd pay for a car, that shares a chassis with a 316d diesel powered coupe. That chassis is actually a ordinary run of the mill passenger chassis. On the other hand, a Porsche 911 is designed from the ground up as a honest to goodness sports car chassis.

Not anymore. BMW changed it for the M4CSL to stop confusion with the 3.0 CSL (Coupe Sportdynamischer Leichtbau) , M3CSL (Coupe Sport Leichtbau) M3CRT (Carbon Racing Technology) and new M4CS (Competition sport), so they started to generalize the names completely. C from now on will sadly give up the Coupe name and will move forward as Competition. L stays Leichtbau/Lightweight and S will stay Sport. As example M3CS G80 is competition Sport.

Sold out? My local dealership has 2 on the showroom floor for sale. Most people dont want to pay double the price of an M4 for a slightly modified car.

No they want to. M4CSL brand new was sold out on the same day it got announced and put to offer. What your dealership has are remaining cars which got imported or have been given back.

Need to get a nicer exhaust on there, I have a 4 banger with full exhaust (LT header, DP, HF Cat, Borla Muffler) that sounds better. Need better exhaust!
