Also: all the 690 platform models (Duke, Husq, SMCR, etc) benefit *massively* from different gearing (down 10% - try 15/42). You're never going to bother doing 125mph, so just gear it down and suddenly all the ratios work.
@marcochavanne
@marcochavanne 6 ай бұрын
I saw Lyndon Poskitt Racing has a wide ratio gearbox kit. Offers a lower 1st, same 2nd, and higher 3rd-6th ratios. I suppose if its really an issue it could be remedied without killing offroad capability. Its spendy though...

ok.. found the switch settings info. Ride Modes are also brand new for the 2019 KTM 690 Enduro R and are easily changed with a simple switch on the handlebars. Street Mode enables “sporty” throttle response while limiting rear wheel spin and preventing wheelies, while Offroad Mode produces more measured throttle response, allows slippage & wheel lofting.

I imagine anybody buying a brand new 701 SM will also have the option to fit the LR gear by the dealer. Not going to lie, an SM LR sounds tasty for a bit of Euro action.

Fast forward to 2022...just buy a Gas Gas ES700 or SM version,stick a Rade Garage auxiliary tank below the front on the seat, 20litre capacity(and cruise control from the Aussie company, tour the Pyrenees and the Alps). These bikes go round the globe, G/G are £1500 cheaper to their orange and white sisters this time of year, and look the best IMO!

Kinda makes you wish you had spare tanks for the h2 eh chopsy? Kinda wish i had the option for the sx. Just hooks into the panier slots along with the fuel lines that attach when you install them would be grest if the bag locks for the hypothetical tanks would engage when the lock is closed instead of when the bags are simplly put onto the bike.

Ah... that's why its £900 more, I never checked the specs been eyeing one of these, now I know it's just extra tanks I've lost interest, call me old fashioned but I like a tank to be behind the bars, Ive been wanting an smc since I tested one, but I do not want a rear tank, seems like a stupid idea to me, if it gets punctured when you drop it it could easily be bye bye bikey, personally I'd rather have less range, than a bomb! I'll just have to find an older model smc!

That is a really nice bike ! I like the 25 liters, and the 155 kg dry weight. However, the fuel tank at the back seems not very handy when travelling long distance with luggage. You will have to remove the luggage every tankstop..... :-( I own a KTM 620 EGS-E Adventure model year 1997, bought it new in 1998. It has a 28 liter tank in the front, and weight is 166 kg dry. 500 km range is no problem. There is also some shield for wind protection, a plus when driving on motorways. That works for me just fine :-) Cheers !

Husky’s are Swedish in origin, which raises the question as to why Husqvarna don’t ditch the WP suspension and fit Ohlins. This would truly set them apart as the premium option, rather than a white KTM. I’ve owned an FE 350 and 2 TE 300’s and despite getting the forks reworked, I was never happy with them.
@casefarley5744

KTM wants to keep it in-house with WP. They do make a higher-spec fork and shock that is supposed to be pretty good - it's on the limited edition 790 Adventure R Rally - but it is absurdly expensive.

The big disadvantage of that "horse saddle" shaped front tank seems to be that getting to the air filter is quite a problem. Second is the price of the kit, if you want to install it on a standard 701: I read about 2000€! So a Ride 6 liter tank will give the bike some extra range without making it wider for much less money, but you need to remove the original air box. Something Husqvarna might not like in case of a warranty claim on the engine! I am wondering why Husky had the LR in the program for only one year. Here in Sweden they are all sold out, there are three available in Germany on a big internet platform. Maybe they are working on a 701 Adventure, a LR with a front fairing???

17:45 it was a 790 Adv R you borrowed and I believe you had standard tubeless tires and damaged the sidewall not pinched an inner tube ;-) Pretty sure those forks have preload adjustment as well. They're the same forks as my Adv R and I can adjust preload but you have to take the weight off the front end to do it - two person job. How did you find the 701 compared to the 790 off-road? It was a toss up between the two for me at the time but the 790s engine won.

GET YOUR INFO STRAIGHT! I’ve driven my LR for 6000 km now, and I got to say you’re wrong about two things here. First of all, the reason you don’t get the fuel reserve lamp ignited on your front tank is because one of the two cranes are shut! Just think about it, when you’ve ben tanking you’ve only room for nine liters of fuel in the front tank, and you said it so many times yourself.. I’ts 12 liters! This means you could have gone further before you hit that reserve which you only hav on that rear tank. But you are wrong. It is exactly like Husqvarna states +/- 500 km, and that is before both tanks hits reserve. Yes, the same lamp works for both tanks. When you hit reserve on the front tank and switch to the rear the light disappears. And let me be straight, I’ve also driven it quite hard. And if you go easy on the reserve you’ll see 600 km before you’re all out of gas. Next clarification, both front and rear damper has 250 mm of travel. Husqvarna offers a lowering kit which will take it down front and rear -40 mm. This kit can also be delivered with a shortened side stand to accommodate the lowering. Else I thank you for a nice review, I just want everyone to have the right facts. ;)

HELP PLEASE! Had 2 bikes, Multistrada and SWM RS500, wanted to do road and off road. Decided that wasn’t working, bought an Africa twin 1000, loved it but just a bit to much for the level of off road we do, so swapped it for a Tenere 660 and found it really under powered, and not enough rider aids. I’m considering the 701. Would you say it’s comfy enough long range on road? Still light enough for really technical trails?

The 501 is not a 100kgs. I think it’s about 113kgs dry. Add 2 or 3 kgs for coolant, probably a kg or so for oil, 9 kgs for petrol, you’re probably up around 125kg. I don’t understand why they even give a dry weight? You can’t ride it dry! Then for something like what you’re riding they’ll give a curb weight which makes more sense. So for what you’re riding it’s really not the drastic 55kg difference that it looks like at first glance. More like 30 kg difference, with 193cc bigger motor, more oil, more coolant and double the fuel capacity 🤔

ive got the 2019 690 enduro.. i thought tthat mode 1 was road mode ( full map/harder throttle) and mode 2 was off road mode ( softer throttle). is this different.. its so confusing the husky/ktm map and abs system?
@LambChopRides
@LambChopRides 4 жыл бұрын
Actually road mode really did feel like a much softer throttle response...

This bike needs a rally tower to balance out the scale of those big dangling front tanks! Why they don't do a stock version with a rally front end i'm not sure!? i reckon they would sell tonnes of them!

@@dizzychoonz im sure they will, but im not sure why the manufacturers dont offer it!? It seems as though most go straight to the aftermarket to bolt on a kit, look how well the T700 is doing!

@@dizzychoonz There are options now but what I have seen your talking $1000 plus for a good setup... Cost adds up fast at that point. I have a deposit down on a T7 Yamaha.

If theres no fuel-light for the front tank, how did you know it was time to switch to the back at the beginning of the video? 🧐

Husk - A - varna 🤔. It is pronounced as it is spelt. There is no A in the middle of the word Husqvarna.
@MrEtnorb
@MrEtnorb 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, try telling the yanks that. To be picky, the correct pronunciation is hoosk-varna. Mattias 790 from Sweden confirmed that in one of his videos.

DKW125 yes I know mate, but I didn’t want to complicate things. Getting people to pronounce it Husqvarna is hard enough. Lol Hooskvarna has them scratching their heads. The - Long way home bloke pronounces correctly as well.

And it’s not even hooskvarna. More like the ’u’ sound in juice. Difficult to explain since the english language doesn’t even have the same sound anywhere, as far as i know

does anyone in the UK really need those big tanks? we're never that far from a petrol station. also looks like you sit down too much chops haha i'd be stood up for the whole of those lanes. i find the control is too limited when you're sat down. plus relax your grip on the bars let it shake/wobble. all these road focused riders struggle abit off road and i think it's mostly because they've got stiff arms and rigid position in general. when you watch the top dakar racers they can blast across ridiculously bumpy terrain because their grip on the bike is so fluid. you're a beast when it comes to riding on the road/track though!

Tires you could swap out to scorpions if you wanted as a more road tire but also off road capable as it's still nobberly but the skin of the tire is different.
