If you are getting hate, ignore it. Reasonable Hokie fans are incredibly grateful for what you girls AND Coach Brooks accomplished in Blacksburg. It was an emotional and difficult end to the season but some people took things way too personally.

agreed, i’ve seen so many people transfer like ines and amari from uconn and they have gotten nothing but positivity from their teammates and fans. it’s unfortunate she didn’t get the same response from the people in her life. she spent 4 years at virginia tech, which is 90% of her college years. it’s ridiculous she’s getting hate for all she’s done. she will always be a hokie and the whole situation sucks

From the Class of 74, a 54 year Hokie I am so sorry you all are going through this. Georgia you are appreciated as great basketball player, as is Coach Brooks as a great coach and I will be watching you at Kentucky and hope you accomplish great things. Because you did at Tech. Liz, you’re the greatest female basketball player at Tech and looking forward to you continuing at Las Vegas. Ignore the haters, there are so many around and focus on the positive accomplishments that you done and will do. Stay safe and healthy. All the love goes your way. ❤❤❤

From Class of 1975 and a NRV resident for 30 years (late 60s thru late 90s)...both of you - all three of you, including Coach Brooks - deserve far better than what you've seen and heard lately. I don't know what to attribute it to, but please, please know that there are far more of us out here who know what you've all done to take VT woman's basketball to the heights it's gone to. VT basketball was not much more than a club sport in the early days. The administration never seemed to take WBB or any other women's endeavor seriously until CKB arrived and talented and dedicated players like yourselves begin to show up. We should be grateful for what all of you have done to this point and be happy for each of you - none of you came here to live up to the expectations of the mean-spirited, entitled, selfish people who have tried to diminish the legacy you've created. Georgia and CKB - much success to you at UK and then the WNBA (Georgia). Liz - we're huge WNBA fans and hope you have a safe and fulfilling career in the W. We'd love to see both of you somehow land in Seattle but that's a personal preference. Liz - it broke our hearts to watch an untimely injury cut short your final season. Thank you so much for what you've done for VT basketball and women's basketball on the whole. Being a fan at this time has been a dream come true and far exceeded what any of us could have imagined. You should be so proud; don't let the few (and they're everywhere) take it away.

Liz is right. We all need to turn the page on the Brooks era. Things can't stay the same forever, and the bitterness is not moving us forward. Frankly, I'm looking forward to seeing Coach Duffy create a successful team with the ladies that stayed along with the newcomers. We owe our fan energy to Coach Duffy now.

Georgia, one day, you'll look back at this hate and realize it's just the ugly side of love. They love you (who wouldn't? ) but are too immature to just express that and come to grips with you leaving. They, too, will look back and realize that the 4 years you played in Blacksburg were a golden time that they didn't celebrate enough. You are AMAZING, and i can't wait to watch you on court again soon ❤🎉

i hope georgia reads this or liz sends the message- You should be incredibly proud of yourself that you put your heart and soul into the last 4 years of your life at Virginia Tech. What you have been able to accomplish as a hokie along with Liz has been amazing. You were able to change the program and have positively impacted the team with your talent and energy during your time playing. I am so sorry that you did not have a positive response to the news you were transferrin. It’s sad that people are miserable with their lives and are unable to support you. After 4 years, your collegiate as well as academic career ends. Because of covid, the situation is different and you have one more year. Obviously, you will follow your coach. Everyone follows their coach for the most part bcuz that’s the person who recruited you and invested their time into you, so it would make sense to follow your coach for your last and final year of eligibility. As for your teammates who don’t talk to you, that’s on them. They aren’t real friends or good people if they don’t always have your best interest at heart. They were supposed to be your sisters for life and it’s unfortunate they can’t support the fact that you are choosing what’s best for your career and to follow the person who built you into who you are. You already did 4 years at Virginia Tech. Don’t listen to the haters. The people with a brain love you so much and are so proud of you. You will kill it at kentucky and u have so many better people and supporters that have your back. Always do what’s best for you and keep your head up. Your amazing ❤

Wow. First, shame on all the haters. Second, thanks for sharing with such openness and honesty about so many things. Liz - I wish you a speedy and full recovery. As a Virginia fan, I wanted to beat both of you. I'm sad that such an incredible game and record-setting environment had to be the stage of such a terrible injury. Thanks for sharing the emotions around that. And Georgia for telling the story through her eyes. I was there in that baseline, and just was crushed that it happened. I totally respect you Georgia for rallying and having a career game. I also respect the gamesmanship of bringing Liz back to the bench at the start of a Virginia free throw. And even as a Virginia fan, I wanted to see you play another year. I wanted to keep seeing Coach Brooks in the best league for WBB. Sure, I'm disappointed. But those aren't my choices to make, it's not my life. It's yours and theirs. And anybody with a problem about that can just GTH, they're not a true fan that supports their team. Keep on being you - both of you!

I wonder when this was recorded. I feel like there have been a LOT of positive vibes since coach Duffy was hired. I understand their feelings and I also understand the feelings of the fans. Something a lot of fans don't seem to get, though, is that sports rivalry 'hate' should never become actual hatred and meanness to your fellow human beings. Hate Kentucky women's basketball? Fine. I get it. But don't hate Georgia, Clara, or coach Brooks as people; they deserve respect even if you're not happy with their career choices.

Of course we were sadden to see Coach Brooks leave for Kentucky. That’s a testament to the great job that he and his players did at VA Tech. But life moves on, and some fans can’t seem to fathom that. It’s sad that there were so many hateful comments directed at Coach Brooks and some of the players. But, guess what? We hired a great coach from another school and she’s bringing some of her players and recruits with her! And all of the VA Tech fans are loving it! I wonder how the Marquette fans feel about that. I hope they show more maturity than some of the posters on VA Tech’s boards. I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for what Coach Brooks and his players accomplished at VA Tech. It was fun, exciting, and got me hooked on women’s basketball.

I think you hit the nail square on the head. It is like a horrible break-up and some fans felt like you were the one who screwed around. I hate how people have no better lives than to try and tear someone else down over nothing more than a game. Anyway, good luck to both of you.

Not a fan or supporter of the Hokies, but I do admire what Brooks and these two ladies accomplished over the past several years in Blacksburg. The only emotion I have is sadness that a move to KY from VATech is such an apparent step up for Coach Brooks. UK is a nonentity in women’s basketball-while VT is a classy, championship-contending program (granted, a rebuilding year was likely after losing Kitley, but still…). I assume that VT wouldn’t or couldn’t invest in the program to the degree the coach thought was necessary to keep growing it, while evidently UK committed to doing it. Sad, though, that VT couldn’t keep him happy-would’ve been cool to see him thrive there. Best of luck to all concerned here-they’re all talented and (apparently) good people, and I think they’ll do well.

Ladies - first of all kind of shocked that you created this podcast (glad you did). Here are my thoughts before listening- which I may or may not do. I can’t speak for others but here is what bugged me most about CKBs departure. First, he blatantly lied to Mark Berman when asked if he talked to KY. I didn’t like that, or that he should have been focused on the tourney but was interviewing for jobs. Then, he left VT without one word of thanks to the fans who gave him so much support. I know all transferring coaches do it, but it doesn’t sit well that VTs best recruits (who he recruited on VT’s $$$) and players went with him to KY. Hokie fans are loyal, so they are not happy when players leave a school they love to follow a coach who left without showing gratitude. You two are the best C and PG combo to ever play the women’s game, and I have watched enough of your podcasts to know you are great people. Do I wish GA was a Hokie next year - heck yeah! And, though it is disappointing, it doesn’t mean I am not grateful for your VT time. Liz, best of luck with your rehab and future career(s). I am just a fan, so you both have to do whatever is best for your lives. Hope you all don’t mind my honesty (if you even read these comments).

I'm sorry, nothing personal, but I don't buy the resentment of CKB and don't see it as relevant here. This happens all the time in NCAA sports. You've hear the term "coaching carousel?" Sure, there are a few "lifers" still around or in the recent past, a Frank Beamer here and there, but those days are mostly gone, as well as the four-year one-school players. From what I saw, Coach Brooks maintained his focus and handled his situation as well as anyone else would have handled it and even if you believe that he could have said, "Thanks and Good-By!" on his way out the door, most "fans" would have still seethed with resentment. And Georgia and Liz have not only the right, but the responsibility to call out the haters. The best that true fans of the game can do is to appreciate what happens in the field of competition and not take the personal drama to heart.

Makes me sad that you all are having to see the wickedness of people at such a young age. My advice as a Hokie who’s aged through so many tough life lessons is to ignore the haters! Ladies - we love you both and truly appreciate all you did for the program. BUT….Hokie Nation wanted SOMETHING…from Coach Brooks. A good-bye…SOMETHING. But we felt slighted and thrown to the side. We understand taking advantage of opportunities. But all other coaches who have left programs have addressed their fan bases. We don’t get that. Yes, we were shocked Georgia went with him , it’s all said and done. But yes, what Georgia said - it felt like a horrible breakup. 😢 But we love both of you and wish you the best!!
