One of the best albums! But you have to listen to it all at once. It’s a journey and a full story.

Lo-fi Beatles. But given those lyrics, more like Anti-Beatles. He killed her cat? Brutal! I agree the song sounds underproduced. But I suspect it was cut that way to preserve her "indy cred" so to speak. The lofi approach lends an intimacy to the songs, as if she recorded them in her closet when she was a teenager. Also, she says that album was crafted as a song by song response to The Rolling Stones Exile on Main St. album, an album known for its somewhat muddy mix. If so, the analog to "Johnny Sunshine" would be "All Down The Line", a song about hard partying after work. For what it's worth, her later songs are better produced.
