I even dare to say that you can find hidden and underrated singers and musicians in every corner of the neighbourhoods throughout the country blasting their vocal talent with a simple guitar as the instrument companion. The scenes and genres are very much formed by the incoming influences. The pre-colonial era - dated back to 1st up to the early 16th century, the musical and instrumentation scene was primarily come from local traditional music in the archipelago which later on influenced by the incoming trade and the spread of religions. Western instruments and musical scale or solmization came and influenced the scene with the colonization era. The post-Independenceand the nation building era can be considered as the birth of modern Indonesian musics. The modern era - the 60s onward, with the influx of primarily radio and later on television programming, waves of British music scene, followed by North America's rock and pop, and the most recent Asian (K-Pop) heavily influenced and formed generations of vocalists and musicians in Indonesia. From the classic British rock of The Who, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd to the later generation such as Bon Jovi, Guns N'Roses, Genesis, AC/DC, and Queen, to name just a few, was a compendium of rock music permeating our household. To see younger generations such as Dimas and others bringing back the classics is a nostalgic finding and a breath of fresh air.
