it is really weird but i do understand it. Unfortunately sexual harassment isn’t very uncommon. people are used to hearing horrific stories of sexual abuse. I think the reason people are talking about the fat shaming is bc she made her whole brand around body positivity so the hypocrisy of it was extra shocking. I definitely agree that the sexual harassment is wayyyyy more disgusting and deserves more of the focus tho

I think its because Lizzo whole brand is being a plus size women and she embraces that. She is building her legacy on her weight moreso her talent. While she can sing, a lot of the support comes from her not fitting the beauty standards. So when the news broke that she is "fatophoic" it was a slap in the face because she preaches so much about having a safe space for them. The sexual harassment thing didnt really surprise me because Lizzo has an issue of when to be appropriate.

1:57 The problem is also that the nude DANCER said no. She did not consent or want to be touched that way so she forced her employees to sexually assault another person. 7:44 She made them re-audition for their jobs again as punishment because she said they were all doing poorly and they could not eat or use the bathroom for 12 hours. That is disgustingly inhumane. If every single professional dancer is terrible to you, the problem is you, not them.

With the Lizzo and Colleen Ballinger conversations going on, I'm hoping that people start understanding that Sexual Abuse doesn't necessarily mean a predator wants to have sex with the victim. Sexual abuse is about power. Having inappropriate sexual conversations with kids and forcing employees to participate in sexual acts are both abuses of power, and in both cases, examples of using sex as the weapon. If you feel uncomfortable in a conversation, you do not have to participate in that conversation. It doesn't matter if it's a friend or an online acquaintance, you are not less cool for keeping a boundary.

Yes. There's a whole realm of psychosexual behavior that doesn't necessarily translate to wanting to have sex with, or even touch, the "participants" or "victims", depending on whether those people A. Know exactly what's going on and B. Still consent. If I put you in a video and threw apples at you, I was really excited to do it and you were like ok it's art that's fine but later found out apple throwing was my fetish and I JOed to the video and had been conning people into that situation for years you'd probably feel violated whereas without knowing that or intuiting that, without the context, you'd be fine with the apples. Like how in retrospect Schneider was clearly doing foot fetish videos with tweens and calling it ICarly, and most people incl myself were just like oh it's a wacky kids show they're just being wacky

Specifically I'm saying that Colleen wasn't necessarily Specifically grooming those fans with the intent of having sexual relationships or contact with them in the future, which is what I think of as the most definitive meaning of Grooming, but that she was still getting off psychosexually by manipulating them, and it was emotional or psychological abuse with a sexual character to it, if not strictly SA in very literal terms. That would come to a legal definition which would vary by state etc. She was definitely creeping with creep intent.

It’s insane to see someone who’s built a platform on body positivity and is also literally ridiculed for being over weight constantly to fat shame people :( Edit for clarification : obviously the sexual harrasment is worse but at this point it’s not very surprising to see a celebrity be a sexual predator unless they literally built their platform around ending sexual abuse and standing up for victims or something . Only reason I commented on the body shaming part is because it was the part that was genuinely surprising , not because I thought it was worth more focus. Bro, there is a HUGE difference between being comfortable with your sexuality and being comfortable with sexually harassing your employees. It’s disgusting how her platform is built on how fatphobia shouldn’t be a thing, and that you can be healthy and big, but she has reportedly been fatphobic in the past to her employees. The fact that Lizzo not only excused this behavior, she made herself the victim. She didn’t even make an attempt to apologize. This is just so revolting.

TBH This tells me she's not comfortable with her sexuality because she's forcing others to conform to her idea of what is and isn't okay. Being comfortable in your sexuality is like a man being comfortable with his masculinity,. If someone else not doing exactly what they deem is the correct way and it makes them upset... their confidence and comfortability within themselves is very fragile and basically nonexistent. I'm extremely comfortable in my sexuality and I know someone around 27 who just recently lost her V card. She said she was surprised that when we first met and she was a V I was so chill/didn't make any weird comments like other people have (especially since I'm very sex positive). I told her that's her journey, her sexuality and no one should have anything to say negative about it if she's not purposefully hurting herself or others. It's sad who Lizzo is and I hope she gets therapy/arrested since it seems that all of these allegations have proof.

@@rita8274 your comment does bring to mind the why behind her behavior. I do agree that she clearly is not comfortable in her sexuality if she feels the need to get validation to force others in on the same acts to bring her peace of mind that she is okay for having the sexual behaviors that she does. And It even makes sense as to why it was her dancers and driver that she wanted it from.

For guys who would like to know if this is our common girls night... Never in my life I met a girl who wanted to have THAT kind of fun. Not even if we were totally wasted. The most crazy thing I was part of was trying sexy clothes while drunk (and even after that all of us promised to never talk about this. And that was the first and last time something like that happened :D ). All the other times we were playing games, dancing or singing karaoke. Lizo obviously wanted to be inappropriate and didn't want to be the only one. So she pressured all the others (kind of like when alcoholics want to drink and don't want to be the only one drinking). Which is definitely selfish. I get that she was ashamed of being the only one going crazy, but you don't pressure your friends (not to mention your employees) to even play chess if they don't want to.

So many people are unhealthy in different ways and fat-phobes use "unhealthy" as a euphemism for "unappealing". No matter how healthy or unhealthy someone is - no one should be bullied or called out about their bodies. Let people live. Fat people know they're fat, they don't need you to tell them.

People like Lizzo seem to have a warped sense of sexual positivity. The number one rule about sex is consent. They think consent stops at people willingly sleeping with each other, but it's so much more than that. Additionally, there's a time and place for everything. No one should be forced or pressured into visiting places like strip clubs, having sex talk in the workplace, or other acts that are sexual in nature but not necessarily having sex. There's a way to be sex positive/open about your sexuality without being predatory or violating someone. Clearly, Lizzo and others like her don't understand boundaries and tend to blur the lines.

Former dancer: a 12 hour, unplanned audition basically means their entire day hinged on being present for almost half a day. They were already on the team and had signed contracts. If there is an issue with quality, that could be addressed in a small group session without the other 30 dancers 12 hours in a dance studio basically turns the space into a bacterial sauna. That means the floors weren't sanitized after 5 hrs which is literally how long a dance room is usually used.

another thing, many dancers COULD perform 12 hours in a day if they HAD to… but performing is noooothing like auditioning. with being on stage, theres a Huge amount of adrenaline that comes into play and helps you keep ur energy. there are breaks for bathroom and eating. auditions are fast pace, drills, new choreography or timing, its a mind game as much as it is physical. to force your EMPLOYED dancers to audition for 12 hours nonstop is literally torture. its a miracle none of them died. an unknown heart condition, anything. i literally wanted to cry hearing that part again because thats not at ALL how actual auditions work those poor women

Her "apology" isn't even an apology. She doesn't acknowledge the sexual harassment or weight shaming. She just says false allegations with no context or evidence of false accusations. Claims she's "open with her sexuality", which has no importance in the situation. Even so, your openness about your sexuality doesn't give you the power to make people touch nude body parts for a fun night out with employees. if people are acting that way, are they really body positive though? no they aren’t. they’re compensating for their insecurity and projecting it. as a body neutral person myself, the modern body positivity movement has lost its plot. everyone should be minding business about their body. if people are concerned abojt other peoples bodies like that, they’re not body positive. body positivity is about having self autonomy and can have their own opinions. body positivity isn’t necessarily bad. white necessary in social progress for disabled people and fat people and women of colour (the people it was made for originally). but modern day self centring and whataboutmeism. it’s selfish. not body positivity

This reminds me of when my **overweight** mother was with me, in her car, gossiping (as you do) and she said that an obese woman who had just walked by shouldn’t be wearing leggings. She justified it by saying that it’s okay because “she’s fat too” so she could say it no problem.

Lizzo has a lot of self hate issues. She’s obviously not happy with herself and projects that onto people that look like her. She has a “I don’t care” attitude in public/performance, but in videos she’s crying and talking about how it gets to her.

I’m not defending Lizzo, but I am saying keep the same energy for all wrongdoings Edit: I’m not saying let’s cancel Cooper, just that as a black woman, this is really disappointing to see, especially since I usually really like and agree with his takes on things.

You don't have to ever apologize for a stutter! There is no judgement from us as your audience 💕 As someone who is in graduate school for speech-language pathology, we've talked about how one of the biggest things, when working with someone who stutters, is making sure they feel supported and positive about themselves. You are so wonderful and, while easier said than done, shouldn't ever have to feel bad for your stutter

I have stuttered since I was 10 years old, it's mild to severe. I learned early on that I was less than others because of my stuttering. kids bullied me relentlessly (though my stuttering wasn't the only reason they hated me, I also had undiagnosed autism and severe OCD) and constantly mocked me when I had to speak in class. Even though my one friend tried to tell them to stop and said that I can't help it, they didn't really care. But I'm still grateful for her for standing up for me. I still feel extremely embarrassed when I stutter, and in a situation with a person I do not know or know only a little, I try to answer with only one word replies. The fear that someone will mock me or laugh at me is still there, even at the age of 36. (Sorry for any possible Spelling errors, English isn't my mother language)

It makes alot of sense to be supportive and make the client feel safe as I know stress/anxiety can often make the stutter worse so if they feel more comfortable they won't stutter as much from the anxiety.

To explain the audition piece a little: In the dance world auditions are usually 2-6 hours and are high pressure experiences. The number of dancers who "make it" is very small, and you are reminded of that constantly as a dancer. You are forced to perform in that moment and your performance determines whether you are hired and get paid for a year, or you go back to working your barista job hustling for your next oppurtunity. Lizzo allegedly had this 12 hour audition (which is a grueling amount of time to be excercising at maximum physical output) after the dancers had already been hired, and allegedly created such a fear based culture that dancers were wetting their pants for fear of being "cut," We dont hear of other artists treating their backup dancers like this. The ways Lizzo has allegedly behaved are incredibly abusive and exploitative of her power in the situation.

As a Dutch woman, I feel like the girls were very misled to begin with considering they aren't aware of the Bananenbar's reputation where shit like this regularly happens, regarding either a nude dancer being sexually assaulted or a group pressuring their friend to be assaulted. The moment I even saw the names Lizzo and the Bananenbar in the same headline, I immediately knew what to expect from reading the article about the lawsuit. This is why a lot of people, even ones who are pro-sex work, will skip that bar.

I had a family member fat-shame Lizzo a few years ago when that family member is roughly around the same weight. I stuck up for Lizzo and was literally pissed that they made a comment like that. They were talking about Lizzo on the television. The family member basically was asking who she was and if she was like Nicki Minaj and Cardi B but they called her a fat pig while doing so. I literally went on social media and vented about it because I was so pissed. I think I mentioned it on Twitter and @ tagged Lizzo. I didn't say exactly what they said. If I remember correctly I think I just said someone insulted you and it made me mad so I defended you. Don't let others insult you. Something to that effect. So if this is proven true, it is utterly disappointing.
