Brilliant comedy. It also makes a good point about military leadership back in those days. Most of the Generals and Admirals were experienced combat veterans from their younger years, somehow miraculously managed to survive war and often injury, stayed in the service and climbed the ladder. Not brilliant men, but survivors who endured the horrors of war and the pressures of military life

How dumb could you be as a kid then? the point of slapstick comedy is that EVERYONE from all ages loves them, the parody parts and smut are for the adults and even then robocop/terminator 2 was watched by kids. Slapstick comedy is getmart where a person pulls out a 4 way gun and shoots 4 people at the sametime, it's silly childish humour like laughing when a person is kicked in the balls, its suppose to be silly easy humour, you'd have to be pretty uptight to hate them

Lloyd Bridges had the funniest character in these movies. "You risked the lives of a lot of innocent men, that's my job!" The "Sea Hunt" reference he made, was genius as well.

I am 62, Sea Hunt is where I first took notice of Mr. Bridges. I always envisioned myself as a frogman in the Navy when I was old enough. As fate would have it, I ended up going into the Rangers instead. Your comment about the scuba scene and how it relates to the TV show brought a smile back in my memories of sitting on the floor watching the Admiral tv in the living room.

When I was editing this originally that was a surprise to me too! His audio in that scene is particularly quiet for some reason, maybe he was just talking soft but I actually boosted the volume when he was talking in that scene to equalize it.. maybe the censors just missed it!
