Indeed. First two years was rough until the buffs we got. 2019 was the darkest year since pretty much former corrin mains from smash 4 have given up or lost faith in corrin due to the changes in ultimate. Ramses was one of them who then switches to shulk. We have come a long way indeed.

That was a good runback from when he got 3-0'd by Onin. I really want to see Shadic up there in the top 8 or higher man "GOOD!"

SHADIC is the goat for us Corn mains right here. We do pretty well against Steve MU. One of the reason is wall pin on Kalos to wait until the blocks are gone. Most characters wouldn’t be able to make it back when walled out. Corrin has ways to stall in the air with dfs aerial stall, wall pin against Steve. Amazing play from SHADIC

Yup we Corns do beat Steve. We have ways to easily get around Steve blocks walling us out. Pinning on walls on Kalos and aerial dfs stalling. We have ways to get around those whereas many other characters would just die from the blocks alone

@@SeriousStriker Shadic is good but I still think no corrin has ever played at the level of MkLeo. It was a short season for him using the corrin, but those sets are just on a whole other level.

interesting how the second best steve lost to a corrin of all characters and there were only 2 steves in top 20 for this tournament. Makes you wonder.

If anything, it really highlights the huge flaw with many Steve players: The lack of Smash Fighting Fundamentals. Characters like Steve (and arguably several others) "Break" the rule of Smash due to being able to create their own platforms in a PLATFORM fighting game, not to mention how overtuned some of his moves are that give him a huge advantage. The moment you force Steve players to fight the "Conventional" way they start to fall apart.

@@user-be3qc7re9o I generally disagree with this sentiment. Too tired so Im just gonna leave it at, just like any character some players do have fundies with them, some don't. Some things are overtuned like up tilt, up smash and minecart and some things are just people complaining cause they're babies like anvil, down smash and jab. We can agree to disagree cause it sounds like you just personally don't like steve, but somehow also think that objectively the character is top 3 in the game so im good with the convo about it.

@@deathangeleas2401 I said many, not all. Players like Acola and DDee understand this. Acola, especially, seems to have proper Smash Fundamentals down as he managed to win Tournaments against Top Japanese players without Steve with Luigi and even Donkey Kong. Yes, Steve players take advantage of tech that's exclusive to the character, but many sincerely lack basic Smash Fundamentals that cause them to fall apart.

Onin was a strong wifi-warrior back when his tag was "Pocket" where he'd make top 32 at online tournaments, just like a lot of top players atm (Like Sparg0, acola, Sonix, Miya, Yoshidora etc.) and he didn't play Steve back then either. He's not carried. He literally couldn't compete pre-quarantine offline because it's hard travelling to big events when you're 13 years old.

@@SeriousStriker lmao but the difference is Maister has been playing G&W since 4. Like he has only played G&W. Onin was a joker main who's results were mediocre at best. Check his stats he still has played Joker more than steve. Also I wouldn't say that abt Maister bc him and Miya are like the only top reps and that indicates that he has skill. How many top steves are there again? Oh yea and also what is Onin's strat to willing unfavorable match ups? Planking. Block into anvil in the air and mining. Literal textbook camping. And then he diamonds his way to victory. He's the only "top" level steve that does that btw.

@@SeriousStriker Also Maister did admit when Ultimate first came out and he was getting much better results that he was, to some extent, getting carried by his character. You and I wouldn't label him as carried bc the things he does requires high skill. That's why you don't see like 10 of them making upsets ever major and you only see 2
