Footage of Ian Rileys Black Fives on the return leg of The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express. The tour run by The Railway Touring Company was running from Manchester to Carlisle via Shap and returning over The Settle and Carlisle Railway. The pair of Black Fives can be seen making the last bit of the climb up to Aisgill summit.

I never tire of watching the different angles ,views on the S&C as HD gets cheaper and those who have a good eye for taking pictires, so the barriers are raised, this work is classic. Full marks.

Another brilliant video. A pair of matching Black 5s pounding over Ais Gil viaduct and then on up to the summit - it just takes your breath away. As always, superbly captured.

Wow!! This is a truly awesome video full of magnificent scenery and the passage of two wonderful steam locomotives running through it. The chill of the air of this winter landscape has gone towards making crisply sharp images. This is 2012, but it could quite easily be from the 1950s or 60s. Sheer brilliance, Phil. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. :D

Fantastic action video Phil and two great locations in stunning scenery! I loved the close-ups of Ian Riley's Black 5's and nice chorus of whistles from the crews. Quite a cavalcade of cars lined up by the roadside. Shows there's a difference with having two 5s at the head of a 12 on! Great, one of your best if that's possible! Ken

Great post Phil. Both those Black 5's in wonderful condition and both working flat out in beautiful scenery. If you love steam engines (like me!!) then it doesn't get much better than this. …..☁☁☁☁☁⁘⁙⁚⁛…..Hᴜɢʜ….TU…..ツ

As I said to Steve Thompson I love seeing steam climb up Mallerstang to Ais Gill summit. Was that a hunting horn I could hear? The snow covered hills in the background look great. Barry

@981smithy Hi Phil, yes I did get a bit, but not had chance to look at it yet, problem was that the first coach after the support had a wheel flat and I fear it may be too intrusive for the shots to be much good...
