LMS Black 5 No 45231 at Carnforth - 5M50 Loaded Test Run Carnforth-Hellifield-Preston - 15th Nov 17

LMS 'Black Five' class 4-6-0 returned to Carnforth from Crewe for a loaded test run to Hellifield, Blackburn and Preston on 15th November 2017. It travelled up from Crewe with a support coach and WCR class 37 diesel No. 37516 earlier in the day.
The first clip shows the 'Black Five' supported by the class 37 pass north through Lancaster heading to Carnforth (5Z45) with the later clips showing 45231 reversing through Carnforth station to join its coaching stock then heading off on the loaded test run with the WCR Class 37 at the rear of the train. (5M50).

Ah! Steam at last again! Nice capture, Allan, bringing back memories of shooting SF at Carlisle and of being at Carnforth. And a B&C as well. What a bonus. Great stuff. But, shouldn't the cab crew be in Lincoln green instead of greying blue? Lol

Has it just come back from an overhaul, or just heavy repairs?

It has been undergoing some repairs at Crewe Alex. It is main line certified until 2020 and its boiler certificate runs out in 2023 I believe. Thanks for watching the video. Regards - Allan.
