I expect with their years of experience and using the old tools they can judge the torque better than a cheap or poorly calibrated torque wrench, and maybe as well as a good as well calibrated one. I lived In Asia for 16 years from my late 30s to my early 50s and was fortunate enough to get to know many amazing old Sokol mechanics with levels of skill that I have never seen in the west. They spend all day repairing parts that in the west are considered disposable. I used a Volvo main dealer for many years until one day I needed a power steering pump that Volvo main dealer said was unrepairable and would take a week to get a replacement and would cost $500.. I was introduced to a 70 year old mechanic working in a wooden shack who removed, stripped and repaired the pump with new bearings and seals for approx $12 including parts and labour.. 10 years later that pump was still working great.

These guys are awesome no pnuematic tools all done with hand tools. They work well together and clearly detailed oriented . I believe the could do this with their eyes closed. I would let these guys rebuild my engine before i would an overpaid entitled american. I as American am saying that as our society are spoiled brats and lazy. it would take americans weeks to do what these guys did in a few hours.

@@markholroyde9412 I know exactly what one is and have just retired been a mechanic since 1972 automotive, truck , earthmoving and marine trades under my belt . You are obviously British so you should know this one . Other than using permatex how do you stop a Perkins 4.108 leaking . Think carefully I have rebuilt hundreds and they have not started to even weep until 2500 hours. Some say they are impossible to stop leaking

They are team of mechanics who’ve known all the parts it’s replacement if not available they can make it too like we know our names in east people prefer manual mechanical works as whatever parts they use are more durable their work is errorless and everlasting than machine work , a machine repair outcome only last 5 years but this handmade work lasts more than 15 years

Just an Inline 6. Fun Fact: Aside from industrial applications, there hasn't been a Straight 8 Diesel for Tractor Trailers/Lorries manufactured since the 30's and 40's with Buda in the States, and Scania in the EU being the last to produce them.

It was so well built 2 Cylinders seem to have already fallen off. With not a single bolt done up with a Torque Wrench how long before something works loose or seizes. The Cylinder Heads were not even done working outwards from the centre let alone Torqued down in stages. How long before the Head Gaskets blow. And then there is the lack of cleanliness (dust on the street) and no assembly Lube They may know where everything goes but that is not a professional Engine rebuild. No wonder the Engines seize if they they were built like that.
