What is up brother men and sister ladys. In this weeks episode it’s packed with a little of everything. Starting out on a freshly plowed field metal detecting for relics, was a bit to windy so had to eliminate a good bit of that footage. Next a day spent with Barbara High from the Keyser News paper digging on treasure creek and interviewing. Also a full day out with my brother man Wayne exploring old homesites and finding bottle dump sites. Some really wild and unexpected finds in this one. Hope you all enjoy and hope to see you in tonight’s consignment auction.
(Bottle in the Hole)
See Ya Back.

Trav, another great video. So awesome Barbara is writing an article on you. She has a passion for digging as well. Wayne’s homestead , we would have had a blast digging there. They bottles were all unique, loved the art deco ones. Loved the locks and the stone you uncovered with Wayne’s family name.👏👍😀

The Sloan's Liniment bottle was made by the square O maker's mark of the Owens Bottle Co.(1919-1929), prior to the Owens-Illinois merger in (1929-). The 0x mark to the left is usually said to be a xx production year, but 1900-1909 doesn't fit this 0x period of (1919-1929). A plant with 0x, could be any 01-09 numbered plants, which remains uncertain, until one is able to clarify what the second number is. The big circle and shear frignes of the first gen Owens bottle macine definitely puts this in the (1905-1920) period when the second generation machines (1920-) cleaned up this problem with a smaller shear "O" circle mark. So this massively shrinks down the production date to (1919-1920) a 1 or 2 year period (!) of manufacture at an original-operated Owens plant. A very unique shelfer bottle of common medicine bottle - but the limited production date makes it much more rare and scarce with proven history.

green threaded bottle with the O-I makers mark is Owens-Illinois of the (1954-1988) when they discarded the old Illinois Glass diamond mark. Plant 3 is the famous Owens plant of Fairmont WV (1909-1981) which made so many jars, bottles, pharmas, chemicals, etc that you would think Fairmount would be as big a New York City with 500 bottle machines (!). So this bottle is 1959. The dimpled base is part of the Duraglass (1944-) period of bottle innovations, when eventually they would just put the dimples around the base and heel outer ring, leaving the center entirely smooth.

The Ovary King Lucky Medallion was made at a carnival or a park. They had machines that you paid a dime, and you could pick the letters, and print what you wanted it to say. 😆

The green bottle with the upright triangle B mark is unknown. The plant 1 with the 5 or 6 9 to the right would be 1935/36 1945/46 production year. This could be Canadian or UK. In fact - Mohawk Liquor is a Canadian whisky created in the province of Ontario. The whisky is produced by the Canadian distillery, Hiram Walker and Sons Ltd. Located in the city of Windsor, the distillery is the oldest in Canada and has been producing whisky since 1858. Backstory on Hiram Walker was him moving from the States LONG before Prohibition (across to Windsor - opposite Detroit) and making all of his many whiskeys, gins, and flavored schnapps etc. Ran during American Prohibition and having his Canadian product smuggled illegally to Detroit and elsewhere. Walker got so big that he needed his own distillery, bottling, and industrial area, that he made Walker-ville in the early 1900s.

That stone with the name Hayes, looks like it has letters on the top edge too. It was faint, but I thought I could see letters. What if that's part of a headstone??? 😮 Wow! I hope nobody is buried there!!!

You could make contact with the YT restorer vidder - who does all kinds of restorations of wood, metal, and wood-and-metal items back to pristine conditions. This would be a real kicker for a working early 1900s industrial lock. It could have even been used in all of those railyards or the many (coal, iron, silk, brewery !, ...) mills in the area.

A funny suspicion that this is an "Owens machine" made bottle for iodine or mercurichrome (iodine-contender). The 3 would be the year - while the clock dot work (also appears like 3 oclock) would be March production. Owens was semi-notoed as using the clock dots for production ID. So March of 1913, 1923, 1933, 1943 ...

The slick milk bottle is an Owens-Illinois Plant 17 year 19x5. Plant 17 is Clarion PA (with inexact dates of operation in the post-1929 Owens-Illinois 1929 merger period). So most-likely 1935, less-likely1945, least-likely 1955, 1965.

Yes beer bottle made by Owens-Illinois in 1946, with the Duraglas mark (1944-) and dimpled base with plant 25 Terra Haute Indiana (19xx-1948, then closed down) - for this only Duraglas production of (1944ish-1948) years of operation !!! Another quasi-rare bot in this 5 year of production of this style of bot - with known single year production date.

Most-likely the keystone maker's mark is the Knox Glass Company Knox PA (1917-1968), who joint-merged with the O'Neil bottle company making bottles on the new-improved Knox-O'Neil machines in 1935. They were able to sell 95 of their machines to many of the big and smaller glass plant companies giving them a massive foot up against the big producers at that time. It is not clearly known what bottles, fruit/canning jars, or milk bottles they could have produced. But this is a Knox. Knox eventually had 15 American glass plants across the nation and 1 Canadian glass plant. The maker's mark of the keystone would have an alphabet letter inside designating which glass plant where it was produced. This soda bottle would be in that (1917-1935) or (1935-1940s) period of which bottle machine they were running on.

P J Ritter Ketchup Company Bridgeton NJ with Owens-Illinois (1929-1988) mark and plant 4 year 8. Plant 4 is Clarksburg WV (1913-1942). So this is (1929-1942) with only year being (!) - 1938 !!! Another curious Owens-Illinois backstory and limited productions. Now to find all those unlisted Heinz food bots of $300 each !

The cylinder medical bot would be the diamond I maker's mark of Illinois Glass Co Alton (Chicago) maker's mark (1915-1929), just before Owens-Illinois merger. This gloppy maker's mark embossing would put this in the earliest of (1915-early 1920s) date.

These Llewellyn milk bottles could be Owens (pre-1929) Owens-Illinois (post-1929) made on Owens milk bottle machines, ... but also the least-likely Morrison milk bottle machine (having a very short period of operation - less than 5 years in the industry), and the most-likely up-and-coming leader of the Hartford-Empire (Hartford) milk bottle machines that took over the industry. As these do not have any Owens et al maker's marks, this leads to believe that these were made on Hartford machines.
