When a lot of people think of classical music, their thoughts turn to beautiful symphonies composed hundreds of years ago in Europe by people long dead.
But you might be surprised to learn that in a couple of week's time, the Toowoomba Concert Orchestra will perform the world premiere of a work called "Toowoomba - Four Symphonic Impressions - written by local composer Rhoderick McNeil, who is very much alive.
I spoke with Toowoomba Concert Orchestra President Claire Nicholls about the orchestra and how these local compositions fell into the orchestra’s collective lap like manna from heaven.
