There are no various fountain pen cases in Korea that carry large pens such as Montblanc 149. So I made a fountain pen case with my father who does leather craft as a hobby. It was shown to the fountain pen lovers around, who filmed and uploaded a video on KZfaq to show many people the process of making it. I'd like to improve my pen case further to make a good quality pen case.

Me too! I saw a great Galen Leather A5 portfolio earlier today on Facebook, but I can't buy leather, so canvas options are helpful. Great review from Dr Stephen!

@@archivist17 I contacted Galen on Etsy to see if they would make any non leather ones but they didn't seem interested. I'm glad other people are filling the gap.

I have a Quattro and really enjoy it, especially since I am a vegan. The waxed canvas is fantastic. That said, I wouldn't mind if all the pens faced the same way. As you said, they'd still be offset. I have a lot of pens with no clip, and they can fall out when you open the case depending on how you hold it. I'm not sure what is really gained by having the two pen pockets oriented different ways.

Nice review! I noticed after your previous review of Lochby products the field journal sold out very quickly and now they increased the price on it. I am curious to see what comes of this one.

That very small pocket... I'd try to use it for my rOtring 600 emergency ballpoint pen, my rOtring 800+ mechanical pencil or my Kaweco Special BLUE fountain pen.

emergency = very sh*tty paper where even a japanese EF nib and dry ink will feather

Would the upsidedown pens leak if not carried flat?

Lochby does make some very good products. I hadn't thought about the two pen pockets offset and upside down from the other two pockets. Smart! I think the Field Note pads would fit inside, but they'd be "loose" and you'd have to be careful opening the case. Not a problem for me. --- Would their note pads fit inside the "back" pocket?

It would have been great to have a sewn elastic strap down the middle to retain a notebook.

@@archivist17 yep! I rather like the idea of Stephen's pocket or your elastic strap, either of which would certainly add some versatility and still be quite simple without significant bulk. However, I think that loading this little guy up with both pens AND a pad would make the pad difficult to write on with the "bumpy" pens as a backing. Lochby's products that are truly top notch. I already have and very much like three of Chris' items including his little notepad holder of the same size as the pen holder Stephen reviews here. Products evolve as creative ideas and suggestions pour in. I look forward to see what Chris comes up with next ... and Stephen's review of whatever that may be!
