Lovely acryic. I would have thought SBRE Brown ink would have been an obviously good match.

I'm not usually a fan of the white swirl resins but the mix of the amber, brown and white is really nice.

Yes, anger displacement is real and currently doing a lot of damage. It’s a type of coping mechanism. Maybe it occasionally works for some people. Re this ink, I don’t care about the controversy except to want to know if I would using it in my pens. Does it behave well re drying time, spreading, etc? It looks like a nice purple.

I noticed the pen doesn’t have a window to see the ink level. Surprised you didn’t comment on it. Ranga makes equally good pens at much affordable prices. While I appreciate the pens being made in the USA, I don’t see how you can justify paying $300+ for this pen.

I’m a Dutch writer/philosopher who learned to write with a bottle of ink on his desk and a fountain pen in the 70’s. In those days it was a privilege and a happening to use these products. I even remember the smell of the Oost-Indische inkt. Last month I bought two Lamy Safari’s for my children (6 and 9) and they love them.

I have this in Persimmon Winds and in Parchment swirl and they are very comfortable to me without posting. In my hand, the long section lets my grip compensate for the smallish girth. One maybe unintentional benefit of the very large cap. If you are cornered into lending your pen “for a quick note”, you wouldn’t be expected to also hand over that huge, honkin’ cap. Kind of like the bathroom key in a gas station😂

I’m so glad you did not go with the cotton swab. I have been persuaded to buy some inks that were amazing when swabbed but could not deliver on promise when used in a pen.

This is interesting and beautiful to me. I think the cap is not mainly for posting but to protect the actual pen so you don't need an additional case for it, and i like that idea. Unless, if you do worry about the cap, then you still need a case...

FINALLY, someone shows us HOW to fill this rollerball pen. Sounds a bit daft, late to the game, I know, but when we received ours, there was absolutely ZERO instructions and we weren't even sure which way to turn the piston. But, HEY! You ALSO include demonstrating how to remove and secure the piston cap as well. Damn Clever!! Thanks a million.

I love this pen. I have it in Persimmon Winds color It has the best steel nib of any of my pens. Interestingly, I don't like Sailor nibs and their pens, but Taccia is something else... I always write with it without the cap on. I never put them on my pens.

I think the back weighted feeling is not just because of the centre of mass, but because the cap(which functions as the barrel when posted) is much thicker than the grip. This causes the pen to tilt forward a bit and it can feel like the pen is rolling across your hand rather than sitting in the crook of your hand. I have the same issue with Kaweco Sports, which certainly have the centre of mass in the correct place, but still feel this way to me.

The patent issue pushed away comments on the pen itself! I may add that, ultimately, it is not the patent that protect the product, it is the value that consumers see in it. For example, if tomorrow Apple start producing the most awful products and hope that their customers will remain faithful and they will be able to sue anyone who copies them, they will be in for a rude awakening, eventually running out of income to finance their litigation. We should also make the difference between a copy, however close it is, and a fake, where the product is made to look produced by the patent holder. There are no ways one can defend fakes, but copies + improvements are fair game!

Interesting pen. So what do we call this form factor? A “sheath” pen? Franklin-Cristoph has the Model 33 Abditus too. One could argue that the Kaweco Sport is similar, though it’s usually considered first, foremost and conclusively a pocket pen. The “sheath” design appeals as something that would not as easily become accidentally uncapped or leak inside a bag. Plus it is just kinda cool.

The form factor is interesting, the acrylic is lovely, and Sailor nibs are among my favorites. However, the step down and misaligned clip/nib would drive me to distraction. This Taccia reminds me of the Franklin Christoph Model 33 Abditus, which I find quite attractive sans clip. It doesn’t post, which kills its utility for me, as girthier sections and barrels are typically my favorites. I do hope Taccia refines the Covenant because it could be wonderful with a little tweaking. 😊

I have recently bought this in a different color. I put a 14k Hard Broad of Sailor Pro Gear and love this pen. Of course a bit heavy when posted but I don't post my pens generally. I slightly adjusted the clip and now nib is nicely aligned 😊

A very interesting pen from a design perspective and a lovely marble green acrylic material. Feedback isn’t a problem for me,if I know the nib has been ground that way, though I’d opt for the zoom nib. Nib/clip harmonious alignment or lack there of,doesn’t bother me. Pragmatically speaking,as long as the pen works, that’s all I’m concerned with. I only own 1 inexpensive Sailor Calligraphy pen. If the Australian 🇦🇺 dollar price is acceptable, I am interested in getting one. 🫡

Very useful review. 👌👏 Thinking the extra traction you experianced on the paper meant needing tight grip than you prefer on the pen which made it seem less relaxing to write with.

The section on my Lamy Vista was smoothed out nicely on the section facet edges, straight from new. If I get a sharp edged section on an AL-Star or Safari now, I simply swap it out for my Vista section. Having said that, I don’t know whether I was just lucky with my Vista, or if they all get a slightly different treatment in the factory to the AL-Star and Safari sections. UPDATE: I just had a brainwave, and took my 12000 grit micro-mesh pad to a particularly sharp-edged AL-Star section in my possession. Now it’s as smooth as my Vista section, with no noticeable sanding marks. Recommended, if you’re not averse to a bit of pen DIY. 😉

After disassembling my LAMY2000, I have observed that the first couple of threads on the plastic piston shaft/rod have been chewed up by the piston knob thingamabob. I strongly believe that the strange sounds that one hears while trying to disassemble the piston is exactly the chewing sounds from this destructive process. I would not suggest to disassemble the LAMY 2000 this manner.

I long have wondered about silver for nibs, and still do. Your friend has done us all a favor in sending you this. What I wonder is about the durability of the nib, not in terms of wearing down leaving silver on the paper, but in terms of retaining its shape over long use. Will you after a while need to service your nib to bring the tines closer together? Would a fine nib exacerbate that problem? And, by the way, I wrote to Yard-O-Led before buying my Grand Victorian <B> to ask about the plating of the gold nib. Their workshop manager Alex Roden very kindly replied that they've been plating with Rhodium for twenty years. I love that pen!

I once did a Diploma in Masters of Wine - part of a job requirement many many many moons ago. As I sat at the back of the class with my lovely partner in crime - Lisa - irreverently sneaking in surreptitious bites of Tesco’s finest Scotch Pancakes we were stopped in our greedy little tracks by a fellow, more serious student who - sitting centre, front - proffered that the wine we were tasting was like “old metal bed springs”. Lisa and my gaze fixed in that kind of bemused, knowing way as we tried to contain ourselves. We were only 19 and had not yet acquired a palette for galvanised steel. Don’t get me wrong good wine is good wine, just like a good pen is a good pen but as humans sometimes we forget and get bogged down in the pretentious “stuff”. Life after all is about the memories and emotional attachments we ascribe to things - pens included. I would be absolutely gutted if I lost my daily JINHAO. Apart from being a very smooth writer, that pen has certainly written some shit.
