Probably nothing. The problem with MasterLock is that there are no real rules or guidelines for locks, making their shady marketing legal. Anyone not into locksport or locksport videos probably believes the brand name.

that would actually be useful if you hadn't played any games ever. Minecraft teaches you how to properly move the mouse and some basic coordination most non-gamer people struggle with. A masterlock can also teach you the basics (although you can also open it with a masterlock)

From what I can tell, The point of the original comment is that master lock is very poorly designed, even compared to other bad locks, so it wouldn’t teach you about any of the deeper complexities of lock picking, just like how Minecraft doesn’t teach about dark souls mechanics.

@@LaneAWD_OwO The 140 has 3 spools and a restrictive keyway, which is why its a commonly recommended training lock. Overlifting, which is a type of bypass, has zero bearing on SPP resistance. The American 1100 which is the standard for picking skill evaluation, is also vulnerable to a bypass. Which again, is irrelevant to SPP difficultly.

Raking is a skill, contrary to popular belief. And thats beside the point that this a Master 140, is full of spools and with that little keyway, is *not* an easy pick. Which is why everyone resorts to abusing them instead of picking them.

LOL! Been there. The "practice lock" is very easy but then a real one feels impossible. It's even worse when you pick a real lock after re-trying with the practice one and get it, but then later, you just can't seem to get the real one without doing the practice one first, as if you keep losing the skill and "need" the practice one to get un-rusty. (At least you had real picks, trying doing it with homemade picks.)

I was a locksmith for almost 30 years. Proud to say that I only had to drill about 20 locks in my career. I am a master lock picker. The secret is in the amount of torque you put onto the tension wrench. Keep it down to about the weight of 3 pennies. Too much torque and you jam up the pins and end up bending your pick. Practice, practice, practice.

I learned how to pick locks with the same practice lock you have, the Covert Instruments FNG. I continued my journey and can pick almost any padlock now. I've been at it for a couple months now. It is insanely easy once you start figuring it out.

Just a tip, put about the same pressure on the torsion bar as you would to press a key on a piano Its not exact, and you may need to lighten or strengthen how hard you twist the core. Different picks also work too. Though, if I am not mistaken, that lock can be opened with a 4 pin comb pick

With keyways that small, top of the keyway tension is much more preferable The Master Lock 140 also may contain a security pin, which is a type of driver pin that is shaped in such a way that picking it will cause the lock to enter a "false set" when it isn't set at the right height. If you are unaware of this, you'll definitely struggle with it Master Locks are notoriously easy to break into, but you'll still need to know how you're opening it - not just whether or not you can open it

There are probably special pins such as spools which are tricky but if you learn to handle different pins it becomes really easy

As a locksmith myself, it takes practice to pick locks. But some are pick resistant, so you can’t pick every type of lock.

Fun fact I have both the set shown and that master lock, the set’s clear padlock is really really easy to open, you can legit open it with just the pick by pushing up on all the pins at once. The master lock shown is arguably more difficult than other master locks because of strange security pin designs, it feels weird, it’s hard to explain but the lock completely seizes up at points. And to those of you saying “McNally was able to open it easily” or “Bro said a master lock was a real lock” first, McNally is a professional at being better than lock picking professionals. And second, while master locks have laughable security, I wanna see you try and pick open that same model of master lock with little to no prior experience. It’s not quite as easy as creators like McNally make it look, and it goes to show how good they are.

It took me 5 minutes to learn to pick a lock with a paperclip, with no previous experience, and the lock was a regular deadbolt door lock. Just keep trying and you'll get it!

When picking em, I usually have to reset then a few times. This is cuz I over set the pins and some pins are more rough then others to set, so it gives the impression that it's already set. The lock you used looked like you just had to set 2 pins and your good to go.
