This experiment has been on my workbench for a long time. Glad that I finally dove into it. I am very pleased with the results, but let me know in the comments what you think about how it turned out. Also, what would you call the knife with the copper scales and Wenger style magnifying glass??
Keep an eye out on my Instagram channel, I plan to auction off the knife with the copper scales in the next couple of days.

ingenious. Due to rising knife crime, the UK government considers anyone who carries a locking knife a danger to society so I've accepted the fact that locking folding knives no longer exist in my world. However, if the government eventually figures out the real reason behind knife crime and realise that restricting the freedoms of law abiding citizens is not going to make the slightest bit of difference to their knife crime statistics, I'd happily carry the knife with the Dragonfly blade - given the choice I'd stick with a traditional opening layer because I find it so adaptable but having a razor sharp electrician blade as a back up is definately pretty sweet..

Great craftsmanship, never doubted you were going to pull it off. I do like the awkward position of the blade, feels ergonomic for the thumb when you place it on the top. You are right the liner color and the titanium combination makes it looks great. Again thank you.

Great work on the locking mechanism! I guess it is a relatively expensive option to make? Would prefer the normal magnifying glass for the yeoman so that you also have the Philips driver.

Thank you. The liner lock is from a 111mm SAK, so it costs the value of the knife plus the labor of modifying it to fit.

No suggestions here, just love to see your progress and growth. You da man! I like to mod my own stutt but with each one ot these innovations/mods you do I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on sending you an email with exactly what I'd want... this locking mechanism with dragonfly blade is top notch, in a 93mm or 84mm that would be amazing (pruning blade, can opener, scissors, and awl... and anything else if half a layer is open because of this config). I recently put together a Pioneer Rancher and while I like most stuff about it... I'm just not about the bottle opening, the can opener driver is so much more useful and the tool overall for scrapping and prying is one of the best.

well, since it isn't a "Yeoman" I'd say it's an "Ensign"... Cool work, well implemented linerlock - but i still prefer the old 111mm-mechanism, aka the one used on ranger grip and the one swiza is using (with the button - less chance of catching a cut when closing the thing)

Hi, check for Victorinox kitchen paring knives models 6.7801/6.7831, may be it would be easier to modify their locks to fit 91mm instead of lolcks from 111mm models (and they would be definatelly way more chep)

I love you're videos mate, but I'm curious if you'd do work on sak's ranger series. I have the ranger 55 (wooden) but I'd love to get it worked on for sure, first being, putting a deep carry pocket clip and changing the scales to a nice macarta then possibly replacing the SS spacers with titanium
@FittoSurvive
@FittoSurvive 9 ай бұрын
I have my first Ranger project coming up here soon. I'd have to search around for some liners and micarta scales though. There's not that many options for the 130mm range.

I really like this mod with the Dragonfly blade. How much width does the liner add, and does it take up a full row like another toolset would?
@FittoSurvive
@FittoSurvive 5 ай бұрын
The liner lock replaces the original liner, so it doesn't add that much more space. At most 0.5mm.

The locking mechanism from the Wenger fits next to the blade. This means the blade would have to be thinned down 0.4mm.

I think those scales with screws could act like 93mm scales, so they won't need liners between them and the tool, just some washers. That way, you could save 2mm, thats a lot for 2 layers vics, not sure if twizers and toothpick will hold in place, and corkscrew will stick out too much, phillips should be fine tho
@FittoSurvive
@FittoSurvive 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, the pick and tweezers wouldn't hold in place if you didn't use a liner next to the scales. Otherwise, it'd be a cool idea to remove the liners.
