Ex R.A.F. Locking as it is today. A small mistake on the titles. It was the Western Band of the R.A.F. and not the Southern Band as shown..

This Is fascinating. So my story is that i used to work for a company in the late 80s early 90s that used to have the contract to lay all the flooring in the barracks, hangers (then most converted into offices and also all the airmen quarters and officer quarters. we used to frequent the naffi and even remember playing table tennis at lunch times. i remember eating frickadelen (probably spelt incorrect) forgive me. they used to sell them in Buns a bit like burgers. my fondest memory was when i was working in one of the hangers fitting out an office when the air show was on and seeing the Vulcan bomber fly overhead. Wow What memories you have brought back. Thank you for Sharing! i also remember tiling out Kitchen floors in anson Road and fitting carpets.

I was at Locking on MAD26, May to December 88, then my assimilation course, then Fitters course and a few Q courses. My brother trained there... My dad trained there..! What a crying shame to see it like this now. All those memories though, fantastic station to be sent to at 18yrs old. Just brilliant.

Thank you so much for this lovely video. So shocked & saddened that the base is demolished. My father was stationed at RAF Locking 1972-1974. I attended Locking Primary School & used to walk back home - unfortunately I don't remember our exact address but it was the far northeastern corner of the accommodation area on Russell Rd. It was so lovely - I could only see cows happily grazing from the back of the house..... I wish my parents had taken pictures of our life there. Living in the United States now & full of nostalgia ...

Great video. 1st posting was my D.E. course from '87-88. Got married and lived in Anson Road. Ended my time in uniform from 94 - 96 back at Locking, living in Oxford Square. My son went to Locking Primary for a year.

Somewhere online there's images of the bulldozers destroying the place. Almost bought tears to my eyes seeing it.

There were 8 airman blocks for trainees. Ward was one, Mannock was another.

Think I was in Robinson, there was also a Motteshead I think that's a rough spelling of it.

I believe the blocks were Nicolson, Cruikshank, Lord, Robinson, Mottershead, Manser, Ball, Cheshire and Mannock. I lived in a couple of them but damned if I can remember which - thanks Stuart
