This was great, thanks. Are the windbreak trees trimmed to that height for a particular reason? I'll be looking for more of your over-the-pond videos. My only experience of rail travel over there was the Silver Fern, in the 80s.

The Loco Engineers never give a decent blast of the horn for level crossings. I enjoy your videos !

Yeah that's because here in NZ we're not horn fanatics like in the states. And yet in spite of that our trains run just as safely.

What was the locomotive's top speed and over what distance was the engineer able to maintain that speed?

they are all GPS monitored and the max speed is 80KM

Leading is a DX by the sound of it. Trailing also sounds like a DX. The lead was off line for the entire video which is a common trick when the power isn't needed. No need to pound your brains out having the one your sitting in working if it isn't needed.
