I have a lot of cast iron from my skillets to dutch ovens. I was really close to spending some good money(250-300) on another "high end" brand, but this changed my mind. 90% of my cast iron is old lodge and I love it, but the part of this that got me is when the guy said he didn't expect the huge growth to continue because of competition, but how can we take care of our employee's? That's a family! I am now a "Lodge Guy" forever. The only thing I hope to see in the future is their standard skillets with a smoother cooking surface, not machined but also not truck bed liner. Once I sand them down just an enough to be a bit more smooth yet still accept good seasoning I feel like they are the best, most even cooking pans in the world(IMO). Great job, people at lodge! Great job indeed!!!

What a great video. I'm a big fan of Lodge and have numerous pieces of their cookware. This video really brought home the idea of what a good company should be and what they should value. Thanks for the video, and an outstanding job to Lodge and all their employees. Well done to all.

It’s funny they play the preseasoning as just a way to make cast iron more accessible. Lodge to my understanding was struggling in the early 80’s and needed to figure out a way to make cast iron more appealing and the preseasoning did do just that but part of that was finding a way to keep the company afloat. Personally not a fan of the gritty finish they do now but it’s cool they’re still around and the only American made Dutch ovens are made from lodge.

Skillets are American made but enameled dutch ovens are made in china...

gritty doesn't mean they are not non stick.

@@JohnGrove310 no but to my knowledge it cut out the process of sanding the inside while still making it usable for the general public. It was a cost cutting measure.

@@TheHuggybear516 _"It’s funny they play the preseasoning as just a way to make cast iron more accessible."_ I'm not sure why that's funny at all. If a product requires the buyer to have some knowledge before using it, then it's obviously not as accessible as a product that is ready to go from the start of purchase.

@@NinjaMonkeyPrime Well Victoria makes a preseasoned product with a smooth finish. Plus the higher end cast irons you tend to have to season it yourself

I have a vintage single-notch Lodge and it’s a great light-weight cast iron pan!! I would NOT purchase today’s Lodge. Way too heavy to work with. It can’t grow old with you because what elderly person can pick that sucker up? It’s a shame certain things change. Quality gets traded for mass producing 😕🙃
