When you cruise youtube and find your old crew, you miss logging even more.....

Machine is a Terex 82-30. If it is pre 1973 it will have a 6-71 (FA) or a 6-71T (FAT). Post 1973 it will have a 8V71T (GA). Bit hard to tell with this machine because of the muffled over cab exhaust fitted. Good to see a 'Green Meanie' in action.

actually the rack was untouched except for some battery acid, the truck jacknifed as it went off so the logs slid PAST the cab instead of THROUGH it...

Nothing wrong with how that truck was recovered. Last thing you want to do is release the brakes. If a cable snaps or comes off, that unit is gonna roll right back down to where they started. Not at all safe. Brakes being locked ain't gonna hinder the progress one bit.

That and some generous editing. I would ask if this was secretly neil giving himself props except he'd call himself a catskinner.

That is one seriously tough bulldozer. Talk about torque balls!!

Never heard of a 10 cylinder engine in a dozer like that, that one sure sounded like 6 cylinders..

The dozer is a Terex and it looks like it's a 82-30. The "bare-dry shipping weight" of the 82-30 is about 50,000 lbs (I could get the manuals out to see what it really is weight wise but there down at the shop). Terex's were made by GM (General Motors) but they no longer make the 82-30 and GM sold the Terex brand years ago.

Poor ole girl :/ Hope no one lost their life/was injured on that ride. As an aside, my asshole always draws up when I see people standing that close to a cable under tension. scary stuff.

The dozer, terexs are heavy and petes are light (once the logs are off that is)

Looks like an expensive day happened here. I well imagine that truck back on the road soon after, with a huge repair bill to pay. Wonder if the owner did this, or a paid driver?

heh,another day at work,i lost track of how many logging trucks i've picked up and set back on the road,at least it wasn't a thousand feet down !

in fact it was the whole axle - it sheared the U-bolts. It was a real asspain to move because i forgot to have the catskinner pick it up for me. It took about as long for me to move the axle as it did to get the rest of the truck

Were the brakes locked on the trailer on the way up from the wreck?

I have triple deep 3/4 socket so i can cage the chambers with my cordless impact. that would have helped in this case.
