Just a little tip, always make your horizontal cut first. No matter if you use the farmers wedge or Humboldt cut, the horizontal cut is your sight line for the lay of the tree.

good job cutting trees i worked for a logging company i was their mechanic had to go into forest to fix the skidders sometime just service them i would go into the forest 2 to 3 miles its amazing how they put the trees down in the right place you have a fantastic channel keep up the good work

I lived in the mountains of East Tennessee for near 30 years and cut more dern trees that I want to remember. Now I live in south Florida where the tallest trees are palms! Soon we will be retiring near Sierra Gorda in Mexico. I do miss the tall trees and look forward to walking in the forest again.

Emerald, you know you have an *AWESOME DAD^ that has done an excellent job instilling great work ethics, business practices and family values in you guys. I totally loved the segment of your dad on the dozer cleaning up the skid road and rain ditches! I see so many loggers here in Central Ohio and West Virginia who are more worried about production and destroy a track after logging. Tops everywhere, logging and skidder road washed out, rutted and eroded. It looks like a bomb went off when they get done! Also love seeing how your dad, aka, The Boss has taught you all great safety skills and it shows with your brother cutting and felling trees! So awesome to see you all have a great concern for the environment. To see you guys at the ages you are... WOW! I have 4 nephews and 2 nieces who cannot do anything without video game in hand or on their phones. You can't even get them outside in the summer to go camping, hiking, and my brother and I even bought them mini bikes, four wheelers and side by side go-karts. So major kudos to all of you and a special thanks to the Boss and your mom for raising you all right! Quick question.... does your dad and brother do any sort of reclaiming after logging or do anything with tops and limbs? I know it is not to profitable to mess with but love your operation! Just catching up to the but wanted to say how great it is to see professional level chain sharpening. Those long ribbon shavings when cutting longitudinally to round off the butt of the log illustrate a perfectly sharpened blade!

I love y’alls unique perspective on logging and everything that goes along with it but the look into the whole family makes it an amazing experience for us fans. The simple and honest way you deliver your message is relaxing to watch and very interesting. I’ve learned a lot by catching up. I must admit that the beautiful redhead that one day popped up on my phone made me click and I’m glad I did. Now I no long see it the same way but see it as a wonderful scenic view into a beautiful hard working family. Thank you.

I like when the cutter starts walking away from the tree turns around and watches the tree fall wicked cool and there is a talent that goes with this job I don't have it I've cut down 4 trees not one landed where I wanted it to not even close ✌

I would love to come cut timber with your brother and father. I've been in timber for about 26 years. I've cut timber in all states west of the rockies and in Alaska, Mississippi, Florida, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. I'm based out of Oregon but have traveled for timber all of my career. I suppose I'll have attempt getting ahold of your Dad outside of KZfaq to see if I could help on a project at some time in the future. Thanks for sharing your family with us.

I did logging to put myself thru school at PSU. Anyway I'm just curious why he'd go so deep & shallow for the undercut? 40% dia, & bar width should do it. ps I'm learning an old school Humbolt at an Amish friends.

I worked for many years in the bush logging by myself,never giving a thought to getting hurt.
