Logging Vehicle Data Using OBDwiz

The data that is logged (or recorded) from a vehicle's data stream can be a powerful tool for diagnosing, engineering, and testing. OBDwiz is a simple, inexpensive scan tool that allows you to log basic vehicle data. This video explains how to set up the software and use it for the first time.

I like your tech. I will use it and make diag videos. Super cool. exporting the data log to a spreadsheet, compiling the data, and finally plotting it is great. I'm going to download the software with the advanced data pack, then run some experiments. I've worked with the ATS data logger before (sharp shooter) and this manual process of exporting and graphing data looks very close to what ATS is doing in real time.

The USB cable that works with Windows is called OBD Link SX. For a little more money, you can also get a wireless adapter called OBD Link LX that works with Windows and Android.

Nice job Justin. I just purchased the OBDlink LX. If you had a choice to run OBDwiz or the OBD app for android on your laptop, which would you prefer ?

I use them both and they each have pros and cons. I like the OBD Fusion app primarily because I have my phone with me everywhere I go. However, the windows app (OBD Wiz) is also really easy to navigate and use. It is easy to log data then view it immediately.

@@JustinMillerAutomotive I installed the OBDLink android app on to my laptop via the NOX android emulator . Installed OK but will not connect to my OBD device. Is that just a characteristic of emulators . What if I tried a different app. Any thoughts?

My whole units page is greyed out, do you know how to fix that? I cannot change my units and I want pressure to be in psi

If it is connected to the vehicle, many of the settings will be greyed out. You will need to disconnect from the vehicle before making changes. I hope that helps.
