This is very accurate but, as I mentioned in the video, I want to take advantage of the Maschine Mikro MK3. Yes, I can use it in midi mode with logic but the experience is night and day. The best of both worlds is the use the Maschine software as a plugin in Logic. That way MK3 can recognize it as if it was in standalone mode and you get to use all its features. Midi mode works just fine but it does not compete with native mode.

@@prodbyeli That’s totally true! If you’ve got the Maschine hardware and want to make full use it’s features it’s got to be tied in with the plugin! It was just a handy tip as I really wanted Maschine’s sounds when I just had Komplete, but didn’t have the Maschine hardware. It’s a shame Maschine in midi mode isn’t more automatically mapped to other Daws. Those pads feel great!!

When loading an instance of Maschine in Logic Pro X, you have to make sure you select the 16 channel option for Machine. Otherwise, it will not work!

Great question! Honestly I am not a fan of producing in Pro tools, so I have not even tried that set up to see it it’ll work. just from I know, I don’t think that kind of routing is doable in Protools!

Yes, I skipped quite a few steps but those steps, I did not think were necessary. the video assumes that you know how to use logic and Maschine individually and you just looking for a way to combine their workflows. Now, you can export the audio from Maschine into logic either as a stereo audio file, individual audio file for each instrument or as midi files. I find that to be unnecessary. Hints why I did not show that. The workflow I was showing is simply to make sure that your individual Maschine tracks are routed into the logic mixer! Once that is done the only other thing you need to do is make sure that the instruments inside Maschine are arranged the way you want them to play! Maschine as a plugin in logic is slaved to logic, meaning it will follow everything logic does. Their timelines will be synced 1:1 and Maschine tempo will follow logic tempo! Lastly, the tracks that logic will use to receive audio from Maschine are aux tracks, the same type of tracks you’ll be using for FXs like reverb, delays and buses. Those tracks do not live in Logic’s timeline by default. I showed how to add them to the timeline, if that is something you want to do, (very helpful for automations). Keep in mind that unlike logic, Maschine has 2 workflow modes(ideas mode and song mode). In ideas mode that where you’ll be creating the groups and scenes, and in song mode, that’s where you’ll be using the scene you created in idea mode to arrange the song! Make sure that after you arrange in Maschine the it stay in song mode to make sure the whole arrangement plays in Logic! Otherwise, only the selected scene will play on loop in Logic if Maschine is set to idea mode! Disclaimer! I didn’t say this workflow is redundant because you have to remember those tiny details!
