I recently sold my native instruments maschine mk3 after discovering how powerful and flexible drum machine designer in logic pro x is. 🤯 This is the story about how it went down and sort of a drum machine designer in logic pro x tutorial.
When it comes to my music production in logic pro, this has officially replaced my old drum machine used for making beats.

I just re-watched this video again, and you’ve answered the question I was asking myself about why the recordings were all on the master bus track, and not under each individual track! I would select each sound, but then have to find the right pitch of the sound or sample. Recording it on the master track and then doing right click then Separate by note pitch is THE ONE 🔥🔥🔥. Thank you!! 👏🏾👏🏾

Fair point about DMD being great, but to say Maschine is just a drum machine is similar to saying a car is just a seat. Yes, you can sit in it, but it does a whole lot more. When you use the Maschine software, especially paired with Komplete Kontrol, and when you have the entire Komplete library, browsing through kits, sounds, beats, instruments, samples and one shots, with immediate preview, and through a tactile drum machine controller, it is hard to replicate that experience with a mouse and non velocity/aftertouch sensitive keyboard keys. Plus, Maschine can be a MIDI controller, audio interface and a live performance controller (even for a DAWless rig in MIDI mode). Then if you have a Maschine JAM to pair it with, it is a control and creativity powerhouse. And its software is compatible with Windows and Mac. Yes, if someone is all Logic, Win compatibility may not matter, but considering the non-Plus version of Maschine is not exactly an overpriced collector item that would fetch a lot of money when sold used, I think keeping it if you already have it just leaves you a bunch of fun and creative options. Which is what music making is all about for many of us.

the point of maschine is the physical controller and the ability to play live/control mostly everything onboard without looking at your computer screen or using a mouse. this is not exactly a comparison of like things.

if you use the producer drum kits you also can get individual audio tracks. even left and right overhead mics, cymbal mics specifically, each tom, snare top/bottom, kick in/out. etc. another way would be take your drums midi and bounce in place. and bounce them as individual tracks when you do. this will automatically take your programmed tracks and split them by source

Great video, good sir. I still have my (bought when they dropped) Alesis SR-16 and my ZOOM RhythmTrak 234, so I'm old-er school than many. lol They are both packed away with my Tascam 464 PortaStudio and ZOOM MRS-8CD recording thingies. While I get what you are saying, you can use Maschine as just a drum module as well. Just right click on the drum group and choose Group Midi Batch and choose Midi notes. Done. You can then just play you drums directly in Logic (not through the Maschine controller though). I've been doing that for years (since 1.3 I think when they added the midi feature). That being said DMD is nice if you don't want to do the back and forth dance between Maschine and Logic.

@@CDMESDI never minded. I only really stopped using Maschine because it’s would just cause too many crashes and issues as a plug-in and got fed up with dealing with that. @@clintmusic1 they have scaled keyboard on Logic for iPad which comes all the way from GarageBand iOS even before Logic launched in iPad. Hopefully they add it to desktop version cuz I’m personally a Ableton and FL user, but I accept that Ableton is better at workflow in my opinion. Nonetheless I want to get into Logic, which I own, cuz I can compose ideas on iPad and move them seamlessly on desktop which in turn helps me be more productive since I can compose anything on the iPad anywhere. Having those scale modes would be changing for me.
