Looking at 0:08:20 it shows what the main problem is now and was before - nobody defending. No defensive and back-up garisons. Good team had garison on chapel, back-up on hill and one in both north and south of chappel in those compounds. So when somebody placed ninja garison defenders were able to hold them and got reinforcements from other garisons-and were defending from multiple directions. Now when its harder for attackers to get in, the people got even more braindead and careless and literally don't defend at all - squad just jumps them from ninja op or from ninja airhead and that's it... Also lot of map is now not used. You have your squad your op - and when you venture into the red zone - its like entering some hardcore radiation death zone. You have your OP - you loose it - you are dead. So any flanking manouvers securing some critical points further away from the action - bit pointless - throw it into the meatgrinder. I agree - they now have lot of toys in. But lot of these toys are broken and its just a mess - they need to be fixed, some thrown out and they need to think about how to clean the room. I believe the mechanic should be simple, easy and fluent. Before it was crude mechanics with quite decent hardcore gunplay. Now its just lot of broken stuff, with clunky and crude grid system and other issues... Like in squad you can build fob anywhere - just need to get the supply truck there, your team to build it and then maintain the supply lines to keep it going. This police red-blue zones where there is invisible barrier where you can't build anything but sometiems you can build close to strongpoint other times far from it.... it just feel anything BUT organic and fluent. Don't know - they could just make it harder - take garisons building ability from recons, limit supply drops into enemy teritory, require more people to be around when placing garison in enemy teritory etc. Lot of things seem just kinda artificial to me (see 0:07:40 nobody would build anything in straight line like that, its so just because of the artificial impose of the grid...) But honestly it is lot of variables, lot of difficult choices and everything costs huge ammounts of times, new bugs etc. I know its not easy - so I just wish them best and hope they will be able to turn this into really solid and amazing game - as HLL deserves that.

Yeah, I've noticed a HUGE problem of nobody wanting to be SL, squads not listening to SL, leading to no nodes and no garrisons. I went from never being SL or commander, to leveling up both past my regular infantry classes. It's gotten tedious.

And you've nailed it again. Though at this point it's hard not to be unless you're literally shilling for them or on the reddit with many new folks that don't know how good things were before U6/U7/U8. As of U8, and giving it a fair go with three matches, I'm done. I'll take Post Scriptum over HLL anytime because of the sheer FUBAR status of the game right now. Post at least has very good gunplay, animations, sound design, etc. I was hopeful for this game, but seeing U8 and how it completely failed to address U7's problems tells me all I need to know right now. Maybe they'll turn it around, maybe not. I'm keeping an eye on it, but I'm not playing until we get a patch that fixes the garrison meta back to how it was before U7 and they either fix or totally revert the "ballistics" system in the game.

Couldn't have agreed more. I stopped playing Post Scriptum because of the logistics system. Now they copied that into HLL and completely fucked all the weapons. They didn't even bother fixing what was already wrong with the weapons, they just made them ten times worse. Not playing anymore atm. I fear it'll be a while until I can again. Much as I love the devs, it's a bit sour when every update they just absolutely kill the game.

Idea: garrisons are in static, semi-random locations, in the same manner as strongpoints are. They're spread apart with roughly 1 grid apart, and near strongpoints they make the best use of space as can reasonably be expected. Teams still need to build the garrisons. Team red can't build in team blue's territory. If team red builds a garrison then loses the territory, the garrison(s) will remain but said garrison(s) will be visible on team blue's map. The idea is to give clear directions to engineers that they can't go wrong by mining roads, fortifying and building in these locations. Also as players learn where the garrisons can be placed, they will try to sabotage the enemy's garrisons - say, with a satchel charge. This will bring conflict to garrison areas, which will in and of itself be a reward to players building nodes etc.

Speaking of reading the map Had a guy joining my recon squad the other day. I'm placing the op behind the mid point going around my jolly business taking down enemy structures. 15 minutes passes and the guy asks, "Do you know where are they fighting?" I wish I made this up.

Damn i wish ur "toturials" someday will be in the game. You are so damn right everytime... it isnt even fun to play this game anymore because of ppl not watching their maps...

They probably had a bunch of stuff that wasn't near ready for U7 and it became U8. I doubt they had much time to make any major changes to the U7 issues with this one. Things that have changed were quick and easy to implement like not being able to destroy a garrison with a grenade and putting then 200m apart instead of 100m. The whole "Dynamic" frontline seems like a bit of a major design change. So if they were going to do something to help with that it may be a few updates away.

I won a code for this game from Jackfrags youtube video, around carantan release and it's insane how much better the game felt when you got into a squad of people that communicate and know what they are doing even basically, we straight away ran along the edge of the map in about my third game because the SL and some guys wanted to get nodes up as far up as we could right away. I more or less got introduced to playing support and they basically made it kinda pointless with the support truck. I played about 45 hours, then came back with U8 and it feels terrible in comparison, I did officer role and pretty much every role outside of commander and tank stuff in U7 but I feel that was better, and based on what people have said with garrisons being able to be put in enemy territory would be much better than the current system. Played 3 games back to back with the same commander on omaha and a few other maps, and he basically worked with one squad to keep nodes up and he was running supplies we destoryed the team each time really quickly once all the supplies and garrisons got established. Edit: also the fact you get NO POINTS for taking down outposts or garrisons/nodes makes zero sense to me, at least as far as I can tell you get zero reward for doing it.

What if instead of having a "Neutral area" were you can build garris, theres 2 frontline "blocks" where BOTH teams can build garris. Say a single block of your area lets enemies build stuff there, and a single block of the enemy zone lets YOU build stuff... Matter of fact, the "neutral" mid lanes at the start of the map should let both teams build in them And also garris dont get destroyed when the zone becomes enemy, similar to how nodes could remain in locked places if the enemy captured a point

Honestly at this point they need more 50+ level servers, especially as a NA player I need that for the good of my soul. Let the new players think they are playing a ww2 game, I just want to play the map simulator.

As a player that normally played offensively trying to get enemy flanks and garrisons I really hate what they did to the garrison meta. Not to mention the slower running speed and many ways OPs can be taken out now. Ruined the fun of a running nade drop and the sound of a garrison taken out. Shame. Until they sort this shit out I'm pretty much done bothering. I try to give the game a chance but I've been in one too many matches where my team gets fucked straight from the beginning by getting trucks stuck or not knowing how to drive. That's become the game now. Whoever gets their truck to the mid cap wins easily.

Im tired of playing squad leader, engineer and support, but at the same time i'm tired of running 5 minutes to get anywhere. I used to love deep flanking and building ninja garrisons.

I have nearly 600 hours in the game and the last 2 updates have done exactly what you said. They've taken the fun out of trying to set up a good flank, and even punish you for trying so, because if you die, oh too bad! run back from your garisson 400m away. I'm kinda hoping they bring back ninja garrisons, and change the way you spawn on a garrison. Maybe a wave' system could work? eg; 8 players per wave and 3 waves until it goes on a short cooldown or whatever? Ninja garrisons were frustrating at times, but in an 'organized' game (Clan v Clan), it would be YOUR fault if you let them build a garrison behind you in the first place. I did like the possibilities they gave the player. I'm hoping they do away with all the 'new frontline' stuff they've added in because like you say, it's just a meatgrinder that's not fun to play. - [TFB] Cell

It is frustrating and painful to see how the developers are killing their own great product by turning it into BS. Hope the another group of devs will learn from that mistake and make the new game based on the great achievements of HLL before the Update 7.

So to win a game, I go Solo Sl. Get Supply truck. Drive said truck. spam garries. Play jazz and eat cookies. Mock both teams..... I play with merc, a group based on teamwork and communication but it's so boring and frustrating now. The only thing that keeps me going is joking about it and the people I play with. I can't deal with public matches by myself anymore.

Uninstalled the game for the time being to make space for cyberpunk. Hopefully things are better in the future

Honest question: Is the game saveable? I truly love this game and to be honest, it quite saddens me to hear all this. Not because I don't agree, but more because it's just disappointing to hear. Kind of a question of "where do we go from here?"

I dont know man... what I do is take a supply truck build around 3 garrisons at our point, build around 2 attacking garrisons and then I go play the game as I want... Supply truck really helped me because if I get frustrated about not having garrisons i can easily build them.., yeah it takes like 10-15 mins to build all above mentioned garrisons, but after that as I said I play the game as I want... also that thing about ttk and weapons, theyve said theyll fix it... and yeah man dont be so negative all the time...

Been watching a lot of folks videos on the topic and just fuuuuu. Still though at least there are still people playing it, but for the time being I'm going to still to Post at least bolting my rifle doesn't take half a year.

3:20 errr you get resources if you build them. Your carrot is there, only if you are smart enough to press few buttons. Sadly recent changes made nodes worse, with autodestruction. No idea why you cannot build them in the HQ sector in warfare. It essentially means that if you lose the second sector, you lost the game.

So what is that level 150 server y'all keep talking about?

Lovely. I now understand it a lot more and how to be a better leader. Most of the time I just play recon to cuck the enemy when they actually play correctly to counter my teams ass garrisons.

In conclusion, HLL is a clusterfuck. Even more since U8 dropped. If smh was a game it’d be HLL. Also who’s genius idea was it remove destroying garrisons with grenades and even artillery I think. As well as the 200 meter distance now, no one fucking asked for that. Am tired of the devs doing shit no one asks for. At 13:49 and onwards it’s accurate af. “Fighting the game”, literally sometimes I don’t even have fun playing HLL anymore, it starts to feel like a chore and fighting all the shitty game mechanics/ designs.
