I have used both the LCT and the MK for a few months and I have decided to use the LCT permanently. The LCT has more functionality for my use cases (I type for work, take notes and browse media in the evening) It’s fairly annoying having to continuously take off the MK and place in an IPad case. The MK is slick and the typing experience is slightly better but the LCT is the best all rounder for my use case. I have never used the 2nd usb port on the MK so one port is plenty. Great review by the way. Combo touch is the best of the two.

I see the keyboard is still attached with the iPad flat on the table, but this results in the edge connected to the iPad being slightly elevated. Would one be able to type without the keyboard detaching? (My son had me return the MK, his birthday present, because he could not use it laying completely flat). Thank you for your review, and insight into this question!

Thanks for watching the video! If your son wants his iPad and keyboard flat at the same time, this case will still have a slight elevation as the connector is still quite firm as is not designed to be used flat, however the magnets are very strong and it would still be able to be used. An alternative I would suggest to use both completely flat on a table could be the wireless Magic Keyboard that Apple makes for Macs. Obviously it is not as uniform of an experience, but is probably the closest you’d be able to get.
