It’s been a long time coming, but Logitech has finally moved on from gear-based force feedback and fully embraced direct drive technology, thanks to the Logitech G Pro wheelbase.
Featuring 11Nm of torque - a significant upgrade on the 8Nm of Fanatec’s CSL DD with Boost Kit - the Logitech G Pro offers several new features not seen on the Swiss company’s previous sim racing wheel efforts - including the G29 and G923.
For example, for the first time ever Logitech offers a quick release system - hinting at future multiple wheelrim options - with the standard Pro wheelrim boasting two jog wheels and a plethora of buttons. The new model also features on-the-fly wheelbase adjustments, so settings can be changed mid-race.
The rim also comes with two analogue clutch paddles (as well as the standard flappy gear-changing paddles), which can be used as an accelerator/brake axis, making it an inclusive option for disabled or young sim racers.
In addition to the new wheel, Logitech is offering a new pedal option - the Logitech Pro Racing Pedals - which for the first time in Logitech’s history come with a load cell brake as standard.
However, costing a combined £1,348, do the Logitech G Pro wheelbase and Pro Racing Pedals gain pass marks from Rich? Does it compete with other entry-level direct drive options from Fanatec and Moza?
