That in my opinion is the best version of superman. You get to see him as a person. HBO series came close but is to damn edgy and dramatic, it has parts I love but then followed up by cheap melodrama and the forced family issues. Superboy is nerdy jock type, having one kid a dumb jock and one an emo with the power rivalry is ridiculous. Both sons are so irrationally stupid at times that it's unbelievable, their parents are award winning journalists and they both are reasonably smart. so the random bouts of plot required stupidity is jarring and just bad writing.

@@bigbear4120 Does anyone remember the episode of Smallville, when Pete Ross found out Clark's secret? One of the concerns Clark had for not telling his best friend was that Pete would look at him different or think different of him, like a freak or a monster, because all his life, Clark's only tried to be normal and fit in on the planet he's only ever known as home. This show and Smallville really do nail Clark's humanity and inner turmoil.

To be fair to Lois, I think it has more to do with her own personal trauma. Her father kept secrets from her that led to her being unprepared to face her mother’s death. And unlike the other times clark showed up before, this time he was obviously hurt and he lied to her about why. She’s probably just scared about suddenly losing him and being completely blindsided again because if he was actually in danger or badly hurt he wouldn’t tell her and she can’t abide by that.

She said that she was going to find out who he is and publish everything about him, regardless of how that would negatively affect him, even after he has saved her life several times. So why would Clark in his right mind tell her anything. She acts like all lies are created equal, regardless of the context

@@oceanberserkerI think the fact that they interacted face to face with Clark as Superman several times deepens the sense of betrayal though, that part of Clark's life had already involved her. @oceanberserker
@oceanberserker Жыл бұрын
@@Laniakea_Super Precisely. SENSE of betrayal, not ACTUAL betrayal. That what Lois is feeling is understandable, but ultimately, looking at it purely from the standpoint of logic, it's just that, a feeling. Again, understandable, but ultimately when one looks at the situation with clear eyes, not necessarily worth holding on to. Bear in mind, Lois made it perfectly clear in all her interactions that she was hellbent and determined to find out EVERYTHING about Superman, consequences be damned. It's kind of like how in Danny Phantom, he keeps who he really is and what he's up to from his parents due to the fact about how gung - ho they are hunting ghosts and how eager they are to subject any 'specimen' they capture to experimentation, dissection included. Nevermind how many times Danny's own father always told his alter ego how he'll and I quote: 'tear him apart, molecules by molecule.' In this instance with Lois personally, it's nowhere near so extreme, but you see the parallels. Add in that there IS a shifty government organization, shocker, that's actively been abducting people to serve their own ends, regardless of whether or not they're actually dangerous criminals, and you can see why Clark isn't exactly in the mood to humor Lois and her enthusiasm in regards to his secrets.

To be fair I think that what hurt Lois the most during all of this was the fact that Clark thought that she would betray him and hurt him if he ever came clean to her, and the fact that he was clearly hurt and gave her such a lame excuse felt like he was just shutting her out and pushing her away
@garreonlefay6703

You forgetting the part where she said she was going to out Superman, which would be basically signing a Death Warrant on his parents, all so she could advance her career? I get she is frustrated, I get that she has had issues with her father, but it is no reason to do what she did. They knew each other for a few days at best, Clark has no reason to pony up his private life to her, specially not after the kind of comments she made. Also, maybe there was a reason why he was pushing her away? Perhaps because he was afraid of what she would do?
@mandos6145
@mandos6145 Жыл бұрын
there is also the issue that she doesn't need to betray him for her knowledge to lead to bad things, knowing his identity will change her behaviour, when her behaviour changes, someone would probably notice, she is a public reporter, if the wrong people notice, what would be the betrayal, revealing superman's identity in order to prevent bad things from happening, or letting them happen and keeping quiet? in fact, that's probably one of the various reasons to not tell her about being superman, if he did that, she may be face with an impossible dichotomy she doesn't have the power to escape

I’m upset with her actions, forcing him to tell her. I mean, be in his shoes for a moment: the family you thought to have since birth adopted you. The parents you actually have are humanoid aliens that sent him away before he could perish with them. He got powers, but the supernatural essence is contained and only the enhanced abilities outside human control are out and he has been trying to be careful in every way (breaking the alarm clock, snapping the faucet, saving the cat while trying to be normal). Then the magic does come out, and he has to hide more of himself from the public view at the same time try to understand why he has them. Not to mention the opportunity to get with a girl he likes and who likes him back not only wants to expose this hidden side of him but also hates this side of him, nor doesn’t believe him when he tells her he doesn’t know anything of his past and his abilities. And now that she figured it out, she calls him out on how he was terrible for not telling her? Because they were friends, and probably a close chance to be lovers? How long has he know her? How long has he know Jimmy? He obviously knew Jimmy longer and is obsessed with everything Clark is part of, unfortunately. He never knew about this, so what makes her so special? Just because a thing was starting between them? In the beginning she tricked the boys into doing her own thing instead of following the boss who is authorized to fire them; as well was very direct and blunt on wanting the truth which many people would avoid than to speak on as expressed in that party episode. This man is confused and scared. He’s doing his best to use his powers for good while also figuring them out on the way. And she claims him to be the bad guy while also falling for him at first sight. She may have apologized for her actions before, but this was unfair for him on how complicated his life is - that she has NO REASON to know about unless he was ready to tell despite the hate for Superman. I’m just ranting here. I know we’re going to get some quick drama, and eventually, most likely when season 1 ends, Lois and Jimmy would be the Sam Manson and Tucker Foley of Clark’s Danny Phantom/Fenton, as displayed in the opening theme. But, still. She shouldn’t have risk her life for a secret that has been conflicting his life since youth and is now furthering complications. I love the show and I am damn watching until its final. I’m just not happy with Lois. More than how upset I am at them on making Jimmy the forgotten third wheel. My poor boys 😢

She repeatedly tells Clark how much she hates Superman for lying to her and says she won’t stop until she uncovers all of his secrets and then publish them for all the world to see, giving him plenty of reason to not tell her and then when he tries to protect himself, she forces the situation where he had no choice but to reveal himself, and then gets mad at him for saving her, I don’t care if she has some childhood trauma about being lied to by her father, we all have trauma, but jumping off a building should never a person answer to dealing with a problem like this, and then she got mad at him for keeping a secret that if it got out would more or less ruin his life forever, she’s being so unreasonable and I still wouldn’t completely trust her not to reveal his secret to the world at this point.

I mean to be fair to Clark, Lois didn’t instill enough confidence to tell the truth. I get that he omitted the truth from her but the fact is her ambition was so great that she risked getting him and Jimmy fired on day one of their job, recklessly getting involved in dangerous situations to either get the story or interview Superman, and to top it off to jump off a ledge of the Daily Planet just to force his hand. I really can’t blame him not telling her if she hasn’t built enough trust to do that. Sure they’re friends but even friends keep secrets.

I honestly don't think Lois was in the right to do what she did to expose Clark's secret. It wasn't her secret to know, and she has no right to be mad at Clark for not telling her. Just because Lois has issues with secrets and lies, doesn't mean she needed to know Clark's secret. If anything, Clark should be more angry with Lois. Clark may have been a bad liar at this moment, but he just didn't want to worry her. Plus, Clark made it clear how Lois made it hard for him to tell her his secret. While I do think that Clark and Lois will find a way back from this, it's a sad moment for their relationship.

Isn't Lois being a bit of a hypocrite? After all, she also lied to Clark during their first outing and investigation. Perry didn't want Lois to do that report, but Lois, not only did the investigation behind Perry's back, but brought Clark and Jimmy to help her with the investigation, saying Perry gave them the okay. And when Perry found out, he tried to call Lois, only for Lois to reject the call, resulting in Perry calling Clark and Clark learning the truth behind the investigation. I'm just saying that Lois is making a big deal about Clark lying about his identity despite the fact that she was also caught lying to get what she wanted.

@@ShinoharaMiyu But too be fair, the investigation could've cost them their lives. At that point, Lois and Jimmy didn't even know that a Superman even existed. Lois placed two people that she just met in danger just to get the scoop of a lifetime. And yes, it is true that she realized that she was a terrible person for lying to them. But is that really an excuse considering that she was willing to throw herself into danger just to prove that Clark Kent and Superman are the same person? Plus, Clark keeping his identity a secret is a lot more justifiable than Lois lying about an investigation that could've resulted in serious consequences if things went wrong. All I'm saying is that there could've been a different route she could've taken other than explode with anger after she learned the truth.

On one hand I like they just rip off the band aid and get this over with. On the other hand, I understand their reactions, but boy are they both in the right and wrong. Lois might felt betrayed, but Clark has his reasons to keep his secrets. If a villain finds out about Superman being Clark, that will lead straight to his love ones, including Jimmy and Lois. However, in her defense, she despises lies due to her father lie about basically everything, including her mother about to die, so I can understand her reaction. However, Clark only kept this secret from her not just because of her protection, but also scared that she will post basically every single secret on him, not realizing Superman is right in front of her. if he didn't decided to rip the page, she probably wouldn't find out that quick that Clark is Superman. It's a domino effect of their reactions.

Lois is definitely overreacting but from a professional experience he is actively lying to her about something she's devoted a lot of time and energy into. Imagine spending months and months on a research project that you think could make your career, and it turns out your teammate was actively sabotaging your work this entire time.... WHILE flirting with you! It's unsurprising she didn't consider Superman as a person who might have priorities and reasons to have a secret identity - that's exactly how Clark was trying to present him. It was clear they were both thinking of starting a relationship out of work. Now Lois realizes he would've continued hiding from her even after they got together. That's also a tough blow.

True but from his perspective, she stated she was going to expose his secrets, if the government knows about his true identity, imagine what they would do to his parents, to heck to Lois herself since she is close with Clark, while this show is mostly light hearted, I guarantee if the government got involved they would commit crimes against humanity just to figure out Clark’s powers Therefore he had no other choice, he had no idea how she would react, and therefore he had to keep doing what he was doing, both sides do have some merit but Clark has more in my opinion because he just want to keep the people he loves safe, which to me, is more important than someone’s feelings of their “research project” being sabotaged, but that’s just my view of it, I am interested to see where this goes

On one hand Clark was afraid of telling her (or anyone for that matter) the truth about his hero identity, after all he's still new to this, on the other hand Lois is hurt that he wouldn't trust her with it, especially after 1) he called her out about lying to him in the first episode, and 2) she trusted him with some pretty personal stuff about herself

The infamous scene where she forces Clark Kent to reveal his identity by throwing herself off a building, despite contention from younger generations of viewers, is actually consistent with the Lois Lane character. The Lois Lane of the Silver Age comics would often recklessly put herself in danger deliberately to expose Superman and this trait was carried over to the Margo Kidder version as she would also throw herself off a building and even Niagara Falls just to try and prove that Clark Kent was Superman.

I said it on other videos, and all say it again, i despise this trope when the hero identity is revealed, that people close to them get angry or pissy because they "lied", they know superman is quite almost the embodiment of a god in earth, so for him to be actually hurt is quite a feat done by powerful and evil people, imagine if those people got a grip of their identity, what would they do to those that are close to them? it's not even a thing about lies, or being angry, it takes almost no thought to realize that, especially when Lois was actively searching for superman identity to uncover it to everyone, and it annoys me more that the protagonist refuses to defend themselves, at least in invincible mark somewhat tried, but he knew that he was just threading their relationship for months by the time he revealed his identity to amber, not justifying her, but at least there he knew that he shared a bit of fault, clark barely says any words and refuses to elaborate because he got sad, brother, let the guy defend himself, that just stains an overall good show with a trash drama because only one side of the party made "solid" points. Here they just barely know each other and they hit us with that crap because they blushed a few times? it's just cheap drama that knowing this show pacing, will go away in 1-2 episodes, or not even half of the next episode.

I think it's different when the person being lied is in a mutual romantic relationship. Lois was even planning to forgive him until he revealed he didn't trust her to keep his secret. Which, fair, but at the same time, she doesn't want to enter a relationship with that baggage.

Hot take: Lois is about 90-95% in the wrong here. Clark being scared/cagey about Lois doxxing him is very understandable… but also with just enough irrational fear for Lois to have good reason to be hurt by that… But other then that… They’ve known each other for what… a week?… maybe a month… AND 2/4 of the previous episodes plots have fundamentally hinged on lies/secrets Lois has spun to Clark… (arguably 3/5 if you count the mind games she’s been playing with him this episode, since that’s technically her keeping a secret and involved lying) So her playing the “Honesty Card” for why she’s burning bridges with a guy who didn’t briskly admit to this titanic level personal secret, comes off as both hypocritical and entitled. This is very much in character for her, so this definitely isn’t a story critique, but I think she’s getting a little too much sympathy right now.

I feel bad for both of them they each had different reasons why it turned out this way yes she would feel betrayed that her teammate lied to her about half of his identity but if she were the alien instead of him I have a feeling she wouldn't do it any differently then him and Clark was being pretty obvious for one! and the fact that he and Lois were getting to boyfriend and girlfriend status in that short amount of time they knew eachother and what she said and did at first I'm at least 99% sure she would've chosen not to reveal his identity to the world instead of getting the news story she always wanted! she has lied and tricked to get the information she wanted and Clark has lied to keep his identity and the people he cares about safe in the end to me neither of them are right neither of them are wrong and I know in the next episode or the one after that they'll come to an understanding and make up so they can save Jimmy before he dies from bigfoot... I do like how their making Lois find his identity out so quickly this is exciting!

Can we have a scene where some one is not always dramatic about the alter-ego reveal? The drama has been done to death.. I wish they would have high emotional intelligence..
