Film description: In ancient times, the gods of Asgard fought and won a war against an evil race known as the Dark Elves. The survivors were neutralized, and their ultimate weapon - the Aether - was buried in a secret location. Thousands of years later, Jane Foster finds the Aether and becomes its host, forcing Thor to bring her to Asgard before Dark Elf Malekith captures her and uses the weapon to destroy the Nine Realms, including Earth.

@@fred_flinstone8 Yeah the MCU has turned into a big comedy routine. It used to have a more serious drama element to it which made it so badass but then it went the comedy route and it just ruined it

1:17 "Loki Died with honor." That moment caught him by surprise as to how much Thor honored and respected him. The look on his eyes shows just how much he was grateful of what his big brother thought of him.

This is how you make an enticing ending. The good guys save the day and have a better understanding of themselves and others around them while the real villain has usurped one of the most advantageous thrones in the realms under everyone’s noses. I truly wish Ragnarok actually made this absolute of a power play worthwhile though lol but it was clever nonetheless before hand

Anyone else kinda disappointed that Lokis grand plan for replacing Odin was to build statues, arrange fawning stage plays about himself and eating nice food and drink. Given his plans in The Avengers, it's a bit of a come down.

It's because the story they wanted to tell in Ragnarok, wasn't what they were telegraphing at the end of Dark World. So they swept it under the rug.

@@gerstein03 plotting to become a king and being one are different things. The former is a finite process with a defined end goal, the latter is a continuous process with no clear end in sight. It's reasonable that someone could be extremely good at one thing but suck at another. Not to mention that he's a god of Malice and Mischief - and none of those are particularly helpful for a peace-time ruler. It's possible that once he achieved his goal he quickly found out he doesn't know what to do anymore.

He maintained the peace. In his own words "Asgard was prospering" Even the people seemed shocked rather than angry or betrayed when Odin was revealed to be Loki

From I gather, having Loki turn out to be alive after all was a twist added after the movie was done, because test audiences didn't believe Loki was dead. With that in mind, I get the feeling this scene was originally supposed to be an authentic exchange between Odin and Thor-I don't think it was written with Loki in mind.

That was a time when Thor had lost confidence. Loki as king under the guise of Odin was a self indulgent king who allowed the universe to go unnoticed. Odin was the one that kept order from beings like Hela and Thanos

Sad they just wasted the potential on this one. Apparently Loki just hangs out having a good time on Asgard after this, which really undercuts his character. After all that effort to be king, and he has no real goal at the end.

loki is 1000 years old. im sure somewhere down the line he had plans. the entire MCU timeline up to his death probably felt like how 1 year feels to us. 1 year is like short gap year before college for us.

@@julianj9830 I disagree. to us, the lifetime of a housefly seems meaningless, to a house fly it's its entire life. in that same way the 3 years looks meaningless to asgardians, while we believe it to be a sizeable amount of time from our perspective. loki is 1000 years old and looks like he's in his 30s. He was simply taking a short break

El Loki de la serie habia vivido el mismo sucesos una y itra vez por decadas. A el ya no le importaba gobernar, solo queria salvar a sus amihos. Aun asi, admito que su cambio de malo a bueno en ambas variantes si que se sintio bastante forzado y como muy de repente. Aun asi Loki es de los mejor que ha hechi MARVEL. Simplemente 10/10 🚬

This is the real Loki. Smart, cunning, conniving and charismatic. The humiliated, embarrassing incompetent shell of a man I saw in the Loki TV series didn’t resemble the character whatsoever. Such a disappointment. At least we have the MCU films.

1:28 I will never shut up about how underappreciated Thor is in his first movies. Here he's just casually ready to give up the hammer that he mourns so damn much in Ragnarok and Love & Thunder. He's way more humble and responsible than the later movies make him out to be. To me, It's just further proof that Waititi should have stayed the hell away from this character.

Great story, great scenery, great acting. Still holds up today. I hope they make one more Thor movie in this way, so that we can have a good memory of it (and erase all that came in between).
