We remember Charlie Hill, a true Native American Comedy Classic! (July 6, 1951 - December 30, 2013) This is a tribute to Charlie Hill who was one of the first, if not the first Native American Stand-up Comedians to be featured on National TV on the Richard Pryor Show, and this was back in 1974, not that long ago. Charlie lead the way for other Native American comedians who followed. He lived and died with honor! This is just a small part of who Charlie was, a Heyoka and a contrary that told the truth with humor. A Husband, a Father, a Brother and a warrior. Thank you Charlie for always telling the truth. Someday history will finally shine down on your light and tell your story.
Trivia/History: For those who doubt what Charlie says about Benjamin Franklin adopting major elements of the Iroquois Confederacy (established 1142) to create Democracy as we know it today, take a little read and bone up on your factual history. Below are a few links, read a little before you post comments about how "you think that this history didn't happen". In this link are another 8 historical reference links to support what Charlie says, read your history before you comment, or you just look uninformed and ignorant.

Only recently have I heard a European historian mention the story of the Iroquois Confederacy. And finally I understood where democracy really came from. All that time they taught us (in Belgium at least) that it came from the ancient Greeks, it made no sense. Why would the colonists suddenly pick up a political system from more than a thousand years ago?! It makes a lot more sense that they saw the democratic principles in action. We all owe Haudenosaunee deep respect and gratitude. And then I came across this clip... I wish I had know him a lot sooner.

Oh, white people LOVE stuff from antiquity, it's probably a combination of looking at a variety of options while trying to build a new system and then having seen democracy work in indigenous society. We're not solely a democracy, we're also a constitutional Republic, which is based on ancient Rome's system of government.

I feel honored to have enjoyed Charlie's act at the several annual Indian music festivals held in Oakland. He died way too young. But he left a body of work that, thanks to the internet, can be enjoyed and increasingly understood by us folks even w/o the man, himself. I recently saw an old, original "Roseanne" where Charlie was D.J.'s teacher and got in some good licks about Thanksgiving, taught the Connors and, I understand, the show's crew as well, an American Indian dance. .

" ... and if you don't like it in America why don't you go back to where you came from? So I did, I camped out in his backyard." 🤣🤣🤣🤣 rip Charlie Hill I'm a proud veteran of the US Army and a Patriot. Natááh'ndé Band Mescalero Apache. Agree- disagree is irrelevant, Charlie always made me laugh and made me proud. He spoke the truth and spoke his heart. Everyone thinks that "democracy" is what is indigenous, in truth sociocracy is what is indigenous, democracy is about majority rules sociocracy is about consensus. When we adopted the Iroquoian system of government we took the car but left the motor needed to make it run; sociocracy, with natural law as the rule of law, is the engine block of that motor. ✌️🦅🌲🇺🇲

Wesley Clark Jr. epitomizes his dear old dad. Seems military people stood down on 9/11. Allied troops RAPED tens of thousands German Girls along with their Mom's and Grandmothers as their "spoils of war". Then they executed many who berated them for their barbarity and then threatened whistleblowers. Joaquin Hagopian who successfully proved Marine SENIOR Officer corruption in THEIR COURT SYSTEM was Kapernacked and left the Marines thoroughly dismayed after his brilliant and superb defense. One of the FIRST executive order of the current President was .......Standing Rock

Siego! What a gorgeous man, especially in his prime...woohoo! Very funny comedian. It's great how Richard Prior took him under his wing. It must have been fate of 2 Native American Indians the first Richard Prior the Aborigional Native ( who's ancestors were in the Ameticas for over 350,000 years ) and then Charlie Hill the second Natives to make it to the America Two peas in a pod!!! GOD Bless Them Both! Yes those were the days when we all got along peacefully until 1619.
