There is some music for the fist 2 mins due to music copyright claim, after that normal soundtrack!
Another London Fire Brigade vid now. Here we see the 1990 Open Day at Soho Fire Station in Shaftsbury Avenue, London. As well as scenes at the open day we still see fire engines in action as 2 appliances were still on the 'run' and go out twice during this vid! The AEC TL's had gone by now so we see Dennis & Dodge vehicles in action-enjoy! If you liked the video please subscribe to my channel, there are lots more transport & quirky vids to upload!

1:30 - E869 JYV aka TL49 - this particular Dennis TL would join Soho station around 1990 and spent 16 years stationed there until 2006 when it was Written Off following an RTA with another appliance

First saw one of those Dennis fire tenders in an episode of Hale and Pace in 1990. Always wondered what they sounded like. Here in Sydney we had International fire trucks with V8 petrol engines at the time. I used to love the sound of the sirens and the V8 roaring away at the same time. We had Dodge of Britain trucks like that from the 1970s but that is the most modern incarnation I have seen with that grill and large lettering. Looks like an attempt to modernise it's appearance in the 80s.

From comments by viewers in Aus, you have had some great vehicles at work out there. I would like to visit and chase the old London buses that lurk at various places there....and enjoy a nice bit of sun!

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus we even had a few AEC fire tenders with the Ergonomic cab in some fire stations back in the 70s. You have to visit the Museum of Fire out at Penrith in Sydney's west at the start of the blue mountains. It's got quite a collection including a fire tender built on an AEC Regent III chassis!!! It's gorgeous. Also a 1960s Dennis fire truck that was pretty much the standard fire truck before the Internationals. I can still remember seeing them just before the Inters came online in the early 1980s.

Interesting to see the mix Nomex coats & old yellow leggings, give that this 7 years after the King's Cross fire, given that Nomex suit was introduced in 1989

Before the LFB ordered Volvo FL6 appliances in the late 90s to replace the Dennis SS

The LFB certainly kept theirs running for years, AEC TLs from the 1960s still hard at work in the mid 1980s.....great stuff!

What a cracking video. Proper PROPER engines, proper sirens, proper livery (i.e., no livery). Not sure about the Austin Maestro officers' car though!!! And the noise from that Perkins V8 is gonna give me a wet dream tonight.... I just know it will.

It might still exist, A795 TYO status is SORN , last logbook change In August 1997.

1990 shirt and tie is part of a fireman's uniform, interesting to see the changes. The flashing strobe lights on appliances seem awful in daylight, I wonder why LFB went for these instead of proper beacons like that Dodge TL had?

I'm not so hot on LFB matters, it was my mate that was an LFB & AEC fan and had me film this.....i'm pleased he did now though!

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus But still interesting you captured 1990 city scape, open platform routemasters and a coach with a Telex number on the rear. What I find puzzling is how does music accidentally captured in the fire station on an open day receive a copyright alert 30 years later, who is listening and noticing this I wonder? seems to happen to other youtubers And you were quite advanced to have a camcorder in 1990, I bought mine in 1994 on credit as they were pricey.

@@john_smith1471 YT has a system that automatically listens for such infringements! I did start using cine film in 1984, £5 for a 5 min silent film. In August 1985, in Dixons, i saw a vid camera that had the tape & power pack all combined as one camera, splurged on HP and brought it (couldn't save up, too much being withdrawn while saving!). Now for £5 i got a 3 hour VHS tape with sound! It took the full sized tapes and sat on my shoulder so was fairly steady unless i telephoted too far. The Panasonic M1, lovely bit of kit. I had 4 batteries at one point, so i could film all day......I'm glad i did, and you are all seeing the results on my channel......happy viewing!

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus cine film in 1984 we’ve come along way, I remember hiring a vhs camcorder, it had its own suitcase and took full size vhs cassettes. I have many vhs/vhs c tapes and audio cassettes, but don’t know how to digitise and edit them.

The pump ladder would've been A781 TYO, correct? It was at Soho in 1987 and was still there after this in the mid 90s, so I'd guess it could be a the workshops having repairs done, maybe?

That's a fire brigade slang term for going out on a call.... (goes back to the days of people running along the street shouting 'fire' i should imagine)......

@charlzey. The Dennis and Dodge appliances turning out were registered in 1984 and 1983.

I meant the division codes on the sides of the vehicles i.e the Dennis should have A241 and the Dodge A246 as Londons Burning already had E441 & E442 on Blackwalls in 89

@@JoeStudd96 appliances were swapped around quite regularly, as well as off to the Workshops at Lambeth and Ruislip (places i halso have filmed in!) back in the 1980s, the TL's used to move around quite a bit!

@@JoeStudd96 That could well have been kept there due to the KX fire but it still needed repairs, general maintainence so yes, as you say was probably in works.
