BOOK A LIGHTHOUSE MENTOR
Are you or someone you know doubting Islam? Do you find yourself struggling to find answers? Do you have a hard time speaking to someone about Islam? Are you considering Islam but are unsure about certain concepts? Are you an activist, Imam or community leader who is unsure about how to handle questions related to science, philosophy, the Islamic moral code, etc.?
You are not alone. Over the course of the last decade or more there has been a rapid proliferation of content online and in academic institutions that has eroded the faith of some people.
Seeing the rise of this phenomenon , Sapience Institute is introducing a One to One mentoring service called LIGHTHOUSE.

After visiting Europe for the forst time, the 19th century Syrian scholar Abdurrahman al Kawakibi noted: "The Westerner is stubborn, hard-hearted and materialistic. He is malicious, selfish and vindictive. It would appear that nothing of the lofty idealism of Oriental Christianity is now left with him. Take, for instance, the German. You will find him dry and rude. He believes that the weak has no right to exist. Power is the sole criterion of greatness with him, and the source of all power is wealth. Learning he does value, honor he does admire, but only for the sake of the wealth they bring in. The Greek and the Italian are selfish and libertine by nature. With them, intellect means freedom, life means shamelessness and prestige means the capacity to show off and to domineer" Source: from his book, طبائع الاستبداد ومصارع الاستعباد

Sorry those claims are sweeping generalisations, seemingly racist and ridiculous. I mean how do you begin to justify those claims scientifically or sociologically? No worse than saying Arabs are barbaric and backward by nature, genetically inclined to violence and oppression and have a revulsion for natural rights, egalitarianism and democracy. Also anti-Quranic, 'and We have enobled the son of Adam'..

@@Incandescence555 I think you misunderstood the quote. He's not attacking those ethnicities, but he's criticising their cultures and western culture in general. As you can see he clearly acknowledges that European once had high morality. He's simply saying that their manners declined after they abandoned religion.

If it was apparent that Europe was lost in the 19th century then it is apparent now that it has gone to a place of no return. This folks is what happens when your building blocks (Christianity) has no basis for religious governance and keeps state and religion separate. What a shame. Truly.

I still don't quite understand the refutation of the third objection. If they say that the universe is what it is , I think they mean that the universe is by itself pre-eternal , right ? in a way it is similar to the composition fallacy which assumes that the whole is independent ?

Individualism:an ideology pritoitrizes individuals in analysis.. Social, economic or all of the above. What an individual is pritoitrize against.... Collectivism, family, society, the government. They would speak against the horrorts of collectivism, totalitarianism. Socialism, a very strong collectivism ideology. Two democracy 1) direct:referendum 2) representative democracy:people collects the leader, and people have sovereignty. Parliament is the main body which everything goes back to..... Individualism is close to egoism. Ethical egoism:self interest. What ought to be the case. Psychological egoism:that we are self interested. What is the case! With imperative there is a possibility... Usually we talk about ethics. Similar between ethical egoism (U shd do what U want to do) and individualism (we R just making claims on what a individual has rights and responsibilities against the collection). We R moving away from ethical system to political philosophies. Libertarianism(govt have very limited role) ... Extreme end enacism(there is no govt) . The most consistent type of individualist is enicist. Liberslism with social contract theory:How much emphasis is put on the word sovereign. U move away from liberal notion the more individualistic U become. Methdological ind is not like a moral claim;simply talks about what the individual does. The the society is run by individual. Ludwick lon mesis (Austrian)... Then he started making claims. So he moved from methodological to ethical. He (1)to which which one to pick... These R all arbitrary... No strlandrsd. 2) horror of collectivism.

@@agadirand4four347 Yeah, but those are sickos. I can't find pleasure in rape or murder. But, i got your point. Islam does require sacrifices, like abstaining from zina. But i do that so i can be at a good place afterlife. Its just a good business. End goal for me remains the same.

Allah has promised you hardship and tests in many verses infact the most beloved to Allah we're severely tested the most just read stories of prophets, striving for pleasurable and an easy comfortable life is standard for all humans obviously, but that's different to saying "my goal is to maximize pleasure" be careful brother, your goal is to please Allah and surrender your will, maximum pleasure will only come in the hereafter you will never achieve it here it'll always be ups and downs by default.

@@agadirand4four347 I was thinking about you. I just realised something. Philosophers think through others eyes, than their own. Thats why you people lost your sense of reality. Its not an insult but i think philosophers are unintelligent. Because when you said murderers find pleasure in killing, so pleasure is bad, i felt super weird. Its weird because, using a thing for a bad purpose does not make it bad. Think about it, there are criminals who do things for the love of Allah. Does that mean, i have to stop loving Allah? No. So, i guide my life through pain and pleasure. Even the magic word love means itense desire. It is ironical that your love is also a pleasure. Love is more of an accrued pleasure. Thats why you people are obsessed by it. Love is kind of a self guarantee that you will get pleasure in the future. It is not love when the guarentee is you will get pain, then its called a threat or a danger.
