The July 13th 2024 attack on President Trump is only the latest in many assassination attempts made on US Presidents and presidential candidates throughout American history. In this video, we examine the last three attempts made before that of Trump, when assassins used firearms to try and murder Presidents Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan.
Dr. Mark Felton is a well-known British historian, the author of 22 non-fiction books, including bestsellers 'Zero Night' and 'Castle of the Eagles', both currently being developed into movies in Hollywood. In addition to writing, Mark also appears regularly in television documentaries around the world, including on The History Channel, Netflix, National Geographic, Quest, American Heroes Channel and RMC Decouverte. Not meening to sound like I'm supporting political violence but can you imagine how historical events would have been different had Gerald Ford been assassinated in 1975. Most likely Ronald Reagan would have been the Republican presidental candidate for president. It stands to reason Ronald Reagan would have defeated Jimmy Carter and became the 39th president of the United States. As such Ronald Reagan would have never let the Panama Canal Zone be given to Panama. Also a Reagan administration would not have pulled its support from under the Shah of Iran and as such prevented the Iranian revolution. This in turn most likely would have prevented the power vacuum that tempted the Soviet Union to invade Afghanistan, which led to the birth of Al Quada and Osama Bin Laden. Also tge situation in Rhodesia may have gone differently as Reagan as a staunch anti communist would have never let the likes of Robert Mugabe to assume power in Rhodesia . Just goes to show you how much power one loan wolf with a gun on a suicide mission could potentially wield.

Hinckley was a college student at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX in 1979 and the spring of 1980. I know this because he lived in the apartment behind mine for one school year of the fall of 1979 and the spring of 1980. I was in High School when Regan was shot. Someone came to the classroom door and knocked, talked with the teacher, and we were soon hustled down to the library, where the only TV in the school was. For about an hour, until time to leave, several classes of students and most of the office staff watched the news as it unfolded. Several of our teachers were Korean War and Vietnam vets, so there was a lot of talk about what might be happening behind the scenes.

There was also a serious assassination attempt on President-elect FDR that took place in Miami, FL, on February 15th, 1933. FDR was uninjured, but the mayor of Chicago, Anton Cermak, who was standing next to FDR, was shot and subsequently died from complications of his wound on March 6th, 1933. Also, on November 1st, 1950, President Harry Truman was the target of an assassination attempt in which one police officer was killed and several others were wounded. Fortunately for Truman, the would-be assassins did not get too close to him, as he had been resting at Blair House, which is a guest house located on the White House grounds. I do wish you'd gone back to Teddy Roosevelt and included RFK Sr because those are the two situations which I think are most parallel to the latest one. I know RFK was never president but he was a candidate for the office, and I'm certain nobody can dispute that if he'd survived he would've won the election. As for Teddy, (who is the origin of the popular stuffed animal, the teddy bear) he was shot in the abdomen by a lone gunman while giving a speech. Sound familiar? Teddy proceeded to bash his attacker with a stick, and then, refused medical treatment - until he was done making his speech.
@Frank-Lee-Speeking
@Frank-Lee-Speeking Ай бұрын
The idea that RFK Sr would have been the sure winner of the 1968 election seems like a case of wishful thinking to me. You're going to need to come up with a lot of data to support that, showing that he was well in the lead of the other Democratic candidates and polls showing that he would have beaten Nixon if they were the respective candidates. Even then, any number of events could have intervened to cause his defeat. I say all this as a non-American with no particular bias towards or against either Nixon or RFK Sr.

Canada is not a Republic but is a Constitutional Monarchy and a Parliamentary Democracy. I was born in Portugal which is a Parliamentary Democracy and a Republic. Before 1974 Portugal was a Fascist Dictatorship but it was still a Republic. All types of Democracies in order to be successful require some sort of intelligence from its citizens. You forgot one other attack on a President in that time. On 20 April 1979, while on a short vacation trip to his hometown, Plains, Georgia, President Jimmy Carter went fishing on a pond on his farm. Suddenly, a dreaded Killer Attack Rabbit appeared, swimming toward the President’s boat, “hissing menacingly, its teeth flashing and nostrils flared!” The President, daringly, attempted to hit the vicious, killer attack rabbit with a paddle, missing and splashing it with pond water, and driving it away! A White House photographer documented the attack of the rabbit and its repulse! The President was uninjured in his combat action!

LHO didn’t even shoot JFK imo. He was a democrat so he was party aligned and even said “what reason would I have in shooting a president” there’s been no motivation found in the JFK assassination. MLK was killed by Memphis police and FBI, that was even proven in court by the King family. With how much corruption there is amongst the democrat party controlling the DOJ, it wouldn’t surprise me that they gave the secret service stand down orders to give the shooter a clean shot.
