This is perfect Donna - I have been cutting 2 1/2” strips out of lots of donated leftovers from old friends. I can’t wait to get started. Especially as I have redesigned my sewing room & built a cutting table out of cubed shelving to suit. Widowed 6 months - “When you are feeling low - then sew sew sew!”. Thankyou for your inspiration & teaching.

I like both versions of this quilt. Thanks, Donna, for another free pattern and great tutorial! I noticed a little bit of a 3-d illusion (like tumbling blocks) in the jelly roll quilt, probably because there was more contrast between the strips. That was interesting. I will probably make the scrap version, however, because it looks like a great way to use up a lot of assorted scraps, especially pre-cut leftovers!

Donna, I love both the quilts so much, but the scrappy quilt reminds me of an antique quilt which I love. Thanks so much for all your help in making these quilts. At 72 I just recently made my first quilt for a friend in the Nursing Home. Wish I would have started this much earlier in my life. Now getting ready to make a crib quilt for our new great grandbaby coming in July. Once again, many thanks for your inspiration and getting me started on a new venture in my life. ♥

Donna, I made your scrap quilt using low volume to medium scraps and some purple fabric scrap squares I bought at a thrift shop! My scraps ranged from the 1930s to present time. I picked one scrap to use as the focal or design fabric and then just started pulling anything that had close to the same colors. Oh my gosh it is one of my favorite quilts I have ever made! I did make one small change. I extended the width by finishing off the last half square triangle to make it whole. I then added 4" more (in total) scraps on each side. This 4" was sometimes made up of more than one scrap. I love the way you use ALL the scraps you pull! Thank you for this tutorial!

I like both versions, but the scrappy one reminds me of my grandma's quilts. She raised 11 children, and after the last few came along, all the hand-me-downs were pretty worn, so grandma would cut up the clothes and make quilts. With time and wear, most of the scraps were fairly light colored. Thank you Donna and crew for a trip down memory lane with this quilt. I bet this design would look just as great if all dark scraps were used with a light accent. Keep the wonderful tutorials coming. I love them all !!!!

I'm very late to this party, but I much prefer the bright southwest colors. Simply because it reminds me of the sky just after sunset in New Mexico. I love both of these quilts and I hope to make one someday. Thank you so much for explaining how of pressing the different directions so it's not "lumpy"!! The soft colors are nice, but for such a small quilt, IMHO, you need the bright colors. I'm still learning how to combine lights/mediums/darks and whatever it's called when the fabric is busy/not busy/solid or reads solid. I'm trying to say mixing fabric patterns, so they don't just disappear into a solid looking quilt. I have a first quilt that I didn't understand the concept and the beautiful fabric just disappears in the design. I spent way too much money, time and tears on it, lol!

I like both of them. Both so unique. Being a quilter and giving away most everything I make, I'd keep the scrappy one for the memories though

The purples, pinks, and reds with black are my favorite colors. But of the two, I’m really drawn to the scrappy more. Thank you so much for designing a quilt to use up scrap fabrics. I love the accent diamonds in it that breaks up all the scrappiness.

Amazing way to use up those scraps!! I have a lot to start with, so this will be a nice winter quilt project. Right now I'm making bags for gifts. Thank you, I love watching you as you make it so easy to follow!

Donna, another great, well-thought-out, beautifully-taught pattern. The scrappy quilt looked like a Grandma quilt and the strip-set looks modern. So call them ''yesterday'' and ''today''.

Scrappy for sure is my favorite, I’ve been looking for an easy way to put all my scraps together for a picnic blanket, or a car blanket. This will be going on my “to sew list” 👍
