Just came across this channel today, I know it's an older upload, but still neat to see. I also use an Amok, and it's fun to see how others use their setups on the trail and what, if any, adaptations they have made to the draumr to better fit their needs and usage. Ended up staying for the whole vid. Cool experience, thanks for taking us along on the journey! Great spot you had as well!

I’ve had this setup since the XL came out and I can’t think of a single con. I have many hammock systems and tarps and the Amok Draumr XL is by far my favorite. It’s warm and comfortable and it is very open inside. I guess the only con would be the weight. I don’t care about weight and use an Alice pack when I go and it’s never been an issue. For an ultralight guy it probably would be, but now they have an ultralight model new this year. Buy one and you just might never sleep in anything else.

Really nice video! I love the shallow depth of field camera work - you've got a good eye for it. And the soundtrack - only what's there and no traffic noise - not easy to do these days. There must be a lot of back and forth setting up the different camera angles, but the result is worth it. Good stuff!

Nice thing about hammocks , OK a couple of nice things. When it's raining you can set the rain fly up 1st and keep everything else dry. Breaking down camp , the rain fly is the last item down keeping everything else dry. During your stay the hammock is up off the ground , dry and clean no matter what the weather is. Best of all is the comfort it offers no matter what type of hammock.

The OneWind tarp looks perfect over that! Think you could sort of enclose the hammock? Maybe if you setup the tarp on a diagonal or such? (so as to create a little windshield on the hammock side) That is, IF windchill is even an issue

Great videos, I have the Amok 5.0 as well as the Haven xl… which do you prefer? I have had an Amok for 3 years and received the Haven a few months ago… I have been loving the simplicity of the Haven as well as the way I can set it up to sleep with my head above my body. My only real issue with the Amok is sometimes if you lay too far to the top you will sleep with your head below the body and wake up with a headache… besides that I really love how well it’s made and engineered… love to hear your thoughts….. I got my draumr5 hung in the house Saturday night and worked out I had put the wall plates too high, the amok wasn’t being tensioned, too steep angle on tree straps, I redrilled wall and found the perfect height, quite low to my bedroom floor, the center ridge line is nice and tight now and the amok has lost the side roll it had. You will laugh, the Klymit Static V I have is the long version, i didn’t buy amok pad due to lack of money, so I put in the Klymit then the Exped downmat7 m I have, even with both inserted the pad pocket was slack, today I added my ridgerest closed cell under the Klymit, this has sorted the pads from sliding on each other, plus a armour like shell to protect pads from my 3 cats hanging by claws underneath. I think tonight will be a great sleep, the inner adjusters for chair and angle all lead into the top corners and can pinch the camo fabric a bit, I put a piece of 1 inch memory foam looped around and the draumr is silent now. Sorry for the epic comment but this Amok Draumr 5 is my take anywhere bed now, proper any position sleep, even sit cross legged and read. Love the stream with Emily, take care.

4 thumbs down, they’ll be like, he pitched it ok but got in it sideways, and that view, dearie dearie me they’ll be bugs everywhere, oh and those tree huggers were crossed up and no named knots were shown. Those meal packs are for newbies and that camera quality and audio is far too good for KZfaq. Seriously this was a lush video, the light was amazing. I have been looking at this setup for a while now. As you sleep 90 degrees to the usual run of the ridgeline is a 3mx3m tarp a little small to get full coverage? would a 4mx3m be better do you think.? It looks a little harder to get yourself fully tucked up high under the tarp if there is horizontal rain. Love to hear your views.

Wow! They've changed the Draumr a bit. Looks like they moved the pad insertion point from the back top to the bottom. The strap system looks a bit different too. Your use of the stick at the bottom is interesting. Don't they have a pole for that, or did you forget it at home? ;-)

I use a stick as I don't have the poles, and there are many upgrades in the 5.0

Is that overhead sheet a different brand to the hammock? If so, which one is it. I might be buying that hammock but this overhead sheet looks a little bigger then the amok one? Can you point me in the direction to check fly out

Great video as always. I have never seen a hammock like that. Was the stick for the bottom the plan, or is there supposed to be a pole for it? And will you maybe use it during winter with a heavy sleeping bag?

Hey Jeremy I was looking at one of your past vids and you mentioned you have gear for sale. Actually like pouches and bags to carry things like flat grills etc. Did this get off the ground and if it did where do I find it to purchase? Thanks again- Dave

Do you have any insight on a better quieter pad for the Amok? Without straight baffles running from head to toe you cannot lay it it and these hammocks do not work with celled pads or thermarest pads.
