Your videos are formatted perfectly. You skip to the chase at the beginning and show firing action, and then the rest is professionally organized. I have never owned a gun, but I play lots of shooting games and the history behind each model is interesting to me. Thank you for doing your research. I love watching your videos. Keep it up.

P.S. I'm 16 but I am old school I know very well about the long Branch from gunsmoke and I found out it is real I love history and I agree with you there is something wrong with people who don't watch westerns those are probably the kind of people that end up in big government. the world today sucks. I wish I could go back in Time. but I can't but I can have things and I plan on having a collection of old guns drive an old car. and have a big stack of movies with my favorite actor (Humphrey Bogart) and my favorite actress (Bette Davis) I love you videos hope to see more have a good one Hickok45

My wife has a limited Swiss edition Winchester in 44 Magnum. We bought it without a single shot having been fired from that baby... and went right to the range with it :D. Hickok, there is a connection between Sweetwater TX and El Paso Saddlery. Sam D. Myers, as a 17 year old man moved his fledgeling S.D.Myers Saddlery from Sweetwater to El Paso in 1881, the year Southern Pacific came to town. He prospered and made holsters for, among others, John Wesley Hardin, Dallas Stoudenmeyer, John Selman and Tom Threepersons. I met "Tio Sam" Myers in 1950, when I was 6 years old and he made my Sam Browne belt + holster in 1965, when I went to work for El Paso P.D. and wore for 30 years. I still have it and it's in great shape. The old gentleman died in 1967, just before his 102 birthday. Bobby McNellis bought the business and continued using all Tio Sam's original cutting forms, stamps and molds on original machinery, which are used to this day. Bobby McNellis, who was my friend for three decades, left us early; the business is run by his son.

I watched your "I made a mistake" video on transfer bars earlier today and commented. I referred to my best friends Colt SSA's. These were truly guns that should have been put in the gun safe and preserved. They were a pair of identical, sequential serial numbered, beautifully engraved guns in a fitted wooden presentation box and were UN FIRED. But as valuable as they were, he had guns to shoot, not look at. He did shoot them---a lot. The only thing he did special was, after shooting them he METICULOUSLY cleaned and lubricated them and placed them back in the box. And he never regretted actually shooting them. I felt very lucky because I was 1 of only 2 people, other than himself, who ever got to shoot them.

I'm not even american and already feel like california is a joke that went too far. Intolerant liberals, immigrant problem, celebrity that thinks they are more than entertainer, idiots trying to ban rifle that can't even get the terms right(like saying the upper receiver is the heart of a gun and that an ar15 fire 30 caliber magazine clip at 2000rpm) oh well, we can't even have more than 5 rounds magazine in my country because you know, it might deter a criminal from using a low cap mag, because criminal are known for respecting the law. Nah let's say it, california is like canada 2.0, watch out, next you'll have to call the police to tell them that you're going out with your pistol after passing the worst number of examines and background check and joined a shooting club.

Matías Pierdoménico matter of habbit. For target practice not nessessary because the gun won't be holstered for long. But when Walking around with a holstered gun it's safer to walk around with the hammer resting on an emty chamber to prevent accidentil discharge

They are incredibly eye-catching, but for me that's kind of a turn-off...they blow the illusion of period accuracy out of the water. It's a gorgeous smokewagon, but if it had been my call I'd have nickel plated them along with the rest of the piece. I might also have used black polymer, solid or rubberized grips like Hogue uses to better support that historically accurate appearance. Now, if someone gave me one of these, I'd still be delighted!

Of couse, it was not emphasized that she may have been the madame of the Long Branch. TV was clean back then. What a great show. Great that we western era TV kids can see these type of shows on KZfaq, etc.

Great video! I'm really wanting to get into black powder single actions but I'm not too sure what make and caliber to go for. Any recommendations? I'm really wanting one with adjustable sights for target shooting so I can dial it in properly

Ruger made a cap & ball black powder in .45 caliber. Blued or stainless with excellent adjustable sights. Made from 1972 to 2008 I believe so they're out there. *BGM.41

Brian Miller Thanks I'll keep an eye out for one, I haven't seen too many cap n ball .45 revolvers before mostly just .44 or .45 hawken rifles, should be interesting

Kane Jones most 44 caliber cap and ball revolvers can be converted to fire 45 colt, it is just because of the bullet diameter confusion. Really the only cap and ball with adjustable sights is the ruger old army. Most cap and balls have a notch in the hammer that you use as a rear sight and the traditional method of sighing in is to use a small file set to file to where the notch is zeroed. However, dang near any component gunsmith can mount ruger Blackhawk style adjustable sights on a cap and ball. That is what I have on my walker clone. Looks a little wonky because of the mounting place, but it works.

Pietta makes a copy of the 1858 Remington with adjustable sights, and is more affordable than a ROA, but the Rugers are outstanding revolvers.

Have you done any research on Bass Reaves? If so, what gun did he use?

According to Jim Wilson’s bio in the 2/12/2015 American Rifleman, Bass used .45 SAA’s for some years and then switched to.38-40 and .44-40 SAA’s to go with whichever Winchester 1873 or 1892 he was carrying.

You have more faith in them than I have had the last 10 years. When they have called for donations, I have been telling them I can't tell a difference in the two parties any more in congressman. Except for a small few,who are usually blackballed by the establishment :-( Not the country I grew up in . I sure hope the new President can,but it will be really hard.

john Mullholand My bad. My head was someplace else. Although i never heard the term before, I was thinking "gin culture" As in Prohibition, Roaring 20's, Bathtub gin. Lots of cool guns used during that period. Now that I think about it I believe you were correct. I read too much into his comment. Thanks for the kind reply man.
