Have had this issue on my '13 Impreza for years. To avoid long cranking times I will turn on the ignition and wait for five seconds while the gauges do their sweep and then hit the starter. It will usually start right up. Try it.

The thing is your pointing at different things... What does an old battery have to do with fuel injectors?

My 2014 outback does it every one or two other starts. Soo annoying. Thanks for letting me know. I will check this out at my upcoming oil change. I 🤔 thought was I hold the key turn too long or what.

Thanks for your information. My 2014 Forester XT has slow start when it's cold so mine rules out the vapor builds up. Not a big concern, only curious!

I just bought a Toyota Yaris 2021, when I was testing the car before driving, the issue never appeared because they didn't let the car sit for more than 10 minutes (that's when usually starts cranking a few seconds before starting), this is the first video that adresses the same problem that I'm having, gonna try it and I'll see if it get better. Battery is new, so it would be just about changing the spark plugs.

I am currently having this problem on a 14 wrx Impreza. I’m noticing some acid coming out from the positive terminal. Also making my CEL come on. Should I replace the battery first and go from there?

Got a 2018 Forester with the slow cranks. Just got the battery replaced , and the spark plugs were done a few months ago. I’m not sure if it’s the starter now that’s dying , but it’s still making that noise. Any thoughts ??

mine is the opposite? this happens when its cold and when i havent used it for a couple hours. ive changed the spark plugs, coils, and the wires. How to know if it is the battery? I have doubts that its the problem it seems fine, My last thought could be the fuel pump but idk.

Have had two recent Subarus Both seem to take "longer" to start than other vehicles. I think that is just a Subaru thing. Weak starters and lower CCA stock batteries

My 2017 legacy is doing this now. My car vibrates a bit when the ac is on and now it hesitates to start alot. I believe it's the spark plugs. (59000 miles)

@@VictorPoulin it did for a little bit but started happening again. I don’t drive as much now that it’s winter. Once it starts getting warmer again I’ll get a scanner and take a look at live data to see if that’ll help. If I get results I will let you know. 😁

Hey Kurt thanks for the video. My legacy 2013 manual transmission has a similar problem of a long crank but only after the car sits overnight or all day while I’m at work as opposed to you where you’re saying it does it when the car is warm. Battery is new Nothing is draining the battery overnight Starter has enough power Any idea what it could be? Thanks!

Hey man I have 11,000 miles on my 2019 crosstrek and the it left me stranded yesterday, no crank no start all dash light on. Checked relays and fuses, not thinking that’s the issue and the alternator is freespinning and not cranking. Have you heard of this problem before for these starters? Thanks for giving a read any advice halos!

Starters don’t seem to go out super common on these cars. You should still be under warranty though.

What's a normal crank length? Like 2-3 seconds or 3-4 seconds?

What was the technical bulletin? To say this is an issue withb2014 specifically then say the fix is new plugs or battery doesn't make sense unless your saying that for that year only they used bad plugs. 🤔

Why do I feel like Subaru owners have battered spouse syndrome? Always making excuses why they stay loyal to cars with so many problems. It's like a hobby car. Always something to fix. Almost like it's fun to determine what the issue is and how to fix it.
@KurtofTrades Жыл бұрын
There’s a lot of brand loyalty out there, Subaru, dodge, Jeep seem to have big cult followings. I like Subaru cause I have had a good experience with them and haven’t had many issues. I agree though
