he not that good of an on ball defender, u niggas see a couple of blocks and start calling ppl generational, he’s actually terrible at on ball defense he gets beat of the dribble alot that’s why it’s so many chase downs but that won’t be easy in the league

As far as a rim protector he is great but Edgecombe was blowing by him consistently like he wasn't even their. Help defense makes it look like that. His lateral movement needs a lot of improvement because he is not going to be able to guard athletic 3's and 4's in the league.

One of the best high school games I’ve seen in a very long time that MontVerde team is nearly flawless, and they are leaps and bounds better than everyone else. A lot of skills a lot of d1 talent

These kids on both sides played some good basketball. You saw ball movement defense explosive plays good shooting. They are being coached up very well. No wonder they have D1 offers all over the place

Cooper Flagg had the most points, rebounds and blocks in this game out of everybody whilst playing elite defense and being 1-2 yrs younger than everyone else. Vj Edgecomb is still a top 3 player in his class though and definitely very elite.

If Cooper Flag don't work on his lateral movement he is going to have problems guarding athletic 3's and 4's. Edgecombe was blowing by him like he wasn't even there.

It's not lateral movement it's angles from bad positioning, he needs to learn to cut off the lanes correctly. Also, his big men are not good interior defenders which won't happen on the higher levels.

@@thunderbear82 People who play great D are able to slide over in front of the defender and gain position no matter the angel. At this point he is not quick enough to get in front of guys who are quick off the dribble luckily he is long enough to be able to recover in some cases and block the shot but right now he looks like curry or doncic when guarding away from the rim.

Definitely arguable whether UK's game fits Edgecombe best, I am sure Kentucky fans said the same thing for Edwards and Wagner before the season. I can argue that Duke has excelled with the 6'5 to 6'8 athletic wings types. That said I will give you that Shephard has definitely been a surprised by how great he is playing. As well as Dillingham.
