Long March-5 launches Yaogan-41

A Long March-5 launch vehicle (长征五号遥六, Long March-5 Y6) launched the Yaogan-41 satellite (遥感四十一号卫星) from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site Hainan Province, China, on 15 December 2023, at 13:41 UTC (21:41 local time). According to official sources, Yaogan-41 is a “high-orbit optical remote sensing satellite”, that will be used for “land survey, crop yield estimation, environmental management, meteorological warning and forecasting, and comprehensive disaster prevention and reduction”.

That satellite must be huge, otherwise they wouldn't use CZ5 to send it to GTO.

This is China's largest carrier rocket, which has previously launched Mars probes. However, this time it only carried a remote sensing satellite, which seems somewhat unexpected.

只谈重量，不谈体积，明显payload有猫腻，难道14吨载荷的遥感卫星，需要把整流罩高度从12.267米增加到了18.5米体积么。所以，很明显是在测试下一次胖五发射, 为下一次发射大型payload而积累原始数据，可能是巡天号光学舱，也可能是天宫空间站下一个“核心舱B段”，最终形成“王”字形。

Just watched the launch on site and its amazing!! But everyone is saying it carries some kind of spy satellite...normal sat dont neccecrily need the rocket this scale and it is even the extended verison compare to the previous model of long march 5....Can anyone explain?

This is also not LM-5B. LM-5 first stage does not enter orbit, hence it re-enters quickly on a suborbital trajectory (with landing zone pre-programed), instead of staying in orbit for several days.
