This video demonstrates my favourite way to work the long tail cast on method and ensure you end up with the perfect tail length every time - no estimation of yarn required! It's a particularly useful method for casting on knitting projects that may require several hundred stitches, such as blankets and garments. The technique is demonstrated for both single skein and multi-skein projects.

Clearly explained demonstration. This is very useful for large projects. I don't like guesswork when it comes to long tail cast on. This method eliminates the worry of running out of yarn! Thank you!

This is wonderful. I love this method. I'm trying this method on my next sweater. I struggle with getting enough yarn length when I cast on... so this is truly a big help. And thank you for the wonderful explanation.

Love this idea Jess. I like to use a contrast cast on at the start of my socks , this way makes it so easy. Thankyou.

I followed this method to start off the chevron stripe baby blanket but I'm not sure if I did something weird, it looks normal when I've just cast on, but once I knit the first row as I knit each stitch the bar between the cast on stitch on the left needle and the knitted row 1 stitch on the right needle becomes quite loose. Sorry I don't know how to describe that any better.
