Long-Term Update: 2016 Ram 1500 Sport 4x4:

We let you know how our 2016 Ram 1500 Sport is doing after 2.5 years and over 50,000km of ownership. So far the 5.7 Hemi V8 and 8 speed automatic have been flawless, the interior has held up with no squeaks or rattles, the exterior is holding up excellent as well.
The truck has been back to the dealer in the first month of ownership for a few initial quality issues that were all easily taken care of. Since then other than routine maintenance or to have recalls performed the truck hasn't seen the inside of a dealer service bay for anything other than regular servicing.
I added a 14 inch Magnaflow muffler and a K&N intake to the truck as well for that throatier exhaust and intake sound.

I bought a 2010 sport hemi with 170k on it off a guy for $7500 on kijiji. Truck was fully loaded, backup sensors and everything. It needed some minor body and mechanical work so I ended up putting about 3k into it. Turned out fantastic. I decided to sell it though and made a profit. I still miss it, I can't wait to get another!

Glad to hear you got success. Just bought my first 2019 Ram Longhorn. Never had Mopar before. So far I just love it and should of bought one sooner. Love the ride, looks, comfort and options.

Just picked up a 2016 ram 1500 sport with the 5.7 and I love it ! Mine has air bags in the suspension and handles really nice and firm love my truck.

Love the panel upgrades with Laramie trim.. I might look into that also. Headlights use supernova v.4. That’s what I’m about to switch to.

I usually lease my vehicles. My wife vehicle is a decked out (everything) 2018 grand Cherokee trailhawk. So many electronics its nut. But with warranty and fixed cost, long term quality has not been an issue. I just bought a 2019 Laramie Sport.. Most money I have ever spent on a vehicle. I tried to find used market but the pricing so high on used it ended up going new. We will see how it holds up. A lot of money in a truck. So far love love love the truck. Hope it stands up like yours.

On those mopar mud flaps did you have to drill additional holes in the front to get them to sit flush?

30,000 miles is definitely not long term on a vehicle. Wait till it has 150,000 miles and then we will really see

Nicole Lightfoot my 26gal tank is $65.00 when completely empty. Gas is at $2.80 currently.

i've had the 4wd/abs sensor go out and now my driver's side window won't auto close - and i HATE the rotary shifter.

Any updates on that situation by any chance? Any further problems? What was your solution to the fix ?

@@southtexasking5821 hello. well, i had the sensor replaced; soon after, i got the same error message for a week or so, off and on, then it went away and has not returned. can't say if it was the same sensor, or one of the other 3. have not had the window worked on, it still functions, just won't "auto up". and i STILL HATE the rotary shifter.

mlminto thanks for the heads up. I haven’t run into those problems yet, but thank you anyways. Yeah I don’t like the rotary shifter either, id much rather have the traditional one on the steering wheel like my past dodge. So far only thing that has been on and off is my cruise control bottom. But if it’s not working I just give the steering wheel a little tap & it’s back on. Other than that, that’s it so far

The window auto close is super easy to fix. Just press the window down button all the way and roll the window all the way down and hold it for 5 seconds, then pull up on the switch all the way and roll the window and once the window gets all the way up holdthe switch all the way up for 5 seconds

I REALLY love ram trucks. But I feel Discouraged hearing about so many issues.. why do they have such a bad rep? I feel like Chevy and ford have their fair share of problems too

It’s because they have been horribly made. Ram is owned by the FCA(Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and ever since Fiat has partnered with Chrysler, they have just been getting worse. I would never recommend a Ram truck. I would recommend an F150 with the 5.0l V8. Don’t get the ecoboost or the new 4cylinder that’s in the chevys

The 2014+ RAMs are all great. Engines are reliable and they now have ZF8 transmissions which are the best on the market. They earned their “bad rep” from 2004-2010 when they had bad transmissions, interior quality, etc. The recent fords and chevys have tranny issues and electrical issues.
