Fun fact: Bruce actually DID all that. Theres a comic where he straight up sends a message to all of Black Masks thugs ( in FRONT of him, no less ) telling them that if they leave Black Mask, he would help them get education and hire them all at Wayne Enterprises. And, literally every single thug, walks out on Black Mask. Like, it was hilarious and ballsy af. He literally said "you can either get your ass beat by Batman, or come work for me; and Ill provide health benefits WITH dental." Shit is still funny to this day

In BTAS, the version of the story that I grew up with, Bruce did try to fix Gotham through regular philanthropy and strategic investments. So, Bruce trying to make his community better through legal methods is something the writers have come up with. But it can't be allowed to work, because then the story would be over.

Bruce helps people a lot in the comics. He is the only rich dude who actually uses his financial power to good use for Gotham, but sometimes for some people you can only use force to set them straight.

Memes aside, this is one of the most common theories my friends and I believe in regarding how the criminals always escape and Batman knows it but does not change the system because it would mean he can't be a vigilante anymore. It's his sole purpose for living following the trauma he experienced as a child.

Bruce puts a lot of money into the asylum and police force, and tries killing crime from a political position while improving quality of life through wayne enterprises. But the court of owls in Gotham use crime to keep the lower class poor, and since Batman has a no kill rule he can’t do anything about them.

@@SouthernKaiser No, Joker's the one who stated that. But time and time again has been proven wrong by Bruce's interactions with other people. Hanging out with Selena, Clark and Louis. Hangin out with the different Robins (Jason Todd's most precious memory, was him sitting on a couch watch a movie with Bruce.).

Its not an original point at all. Bruce does these things ALL the time in the comics. In fact, he gives jobs to thugs he beats up sometimes. That doesn't stop aliens or the joker from causing chaos.

@@ItsOver9000Productions I remember him giving jobs in Batman TAS. In the comics he's much meaner. He has almost zero tolerance for the thugs he beats up and puts in the hospital. He hardly does anything to help Gotham outside of a charity that almost never features schools or the poor or just improving Gotham in general. It's just to show Bruce Wayne for a bit so the readers can remember he exists. He is very much different in the comics. I guess we can blame the writers on that. I read the comics before the show started and was wondering why Batman was so much nicer until they did the arc for when Robin(Dick) left him and became Nightwing (joined the TT in the comics). That's how Batman normally acts. If he really wanted he could get involved with Gotham's politics so they could get non corrupted politicians. He's one of the richest people in the world but the city he lives in is one of the most corrupt. Doesn't make any sense, especially with the federal connections he has. Batman just likes control.

@@Graywing Except he does, but the Court of Owls has been fucking up Bruce's attempts to actually change Gotham. Bruce relocates the families of thugs he put in prison; Like that mother and son that he relocated after Jason Todd killed the father for drugging his wife and son.
