Jay Shetty sits down with Shawn Stevenson to talk about the amount of control we have over our body. Studies have shown that our thoughts are powerful enough to motivate us to move, to thrive, and to succeed. The same goes for our determination to improve ourselves. If we use the strength of our mind to push ourselves and our body to exceed what society deems as our limits, we can achieve far greater things.
Shawn Stevenson is the author of the USA Today National bestseller Eat Smarter and the international bestselling book Sleep Smarter. He’s also creator of The Model Health Show, featured as the number #1 health podcast in the U.S. with millions of listener downloads each year. A graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Shawn studied business, biology, and nutritional science and became the cofounder of Advanced Integrative Health Alliance. Shawn has been featured in Forbes, Fast Company, The New York Times, Muscle & Fitness, ABC News, ESPN, and many other major media outlets.

As I sit here and watch this video with a bag of chips and Ritz crackers, I know it is time to get back in the kitchen. I got busy with work, depression, and anxiety to the point where I avoided grocery stores out of lack of time or mental capacity to search for "good" material. This is a moment for me to ask for forgiveness from my body. Thank you for the information and boost.

Shawn was just packed full of intelligent useful information. I suffered 6 total herniated disc and early on I had surgery( one neck fusion), took the meds and it kept my pain alive.Since refused other surgeries and did what Shawn did, food exercise, meditation and lots of research on the "alternative" ways like dancing. I also beleive the body can heal itself but we have to change these factors many of us led to beleive is the right way to eat sleep and so on. Sleep is huge! Slowly over time I have shed the harmful ways to eating & sleeping in harmony which includes meditation. To back what Shawn says David Eaglemans series on the brain is mind-blowing. I wish you could get him on Podcast too!

44:00 Replace damaging oils like canola, corn, and soy oils with extra virgin, oleocanthal rich olive oil **it is really healing, helps lower inflammation significantly and heal the blood brain barrier. Olive oil is best served cold, for finishing dishes like serving on side or on salads. Moderate heat is okay. 45:38 But for cooking we need things that are more stable under high heat to not release pro inflammatory compounds, for example use coconut oil, ghee, grass fed butter, avocado oil) Other foods to reduce inflammation, particularly in the brain are cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, bok choy, kale, cabbage, collard greens

Hugely insightful conversation. This is my first time, being introduced to Shawn Stevenson, and it will not be the last. Sean you are a true inspiration, and your passion for health, from the inside out....is perfection, I am a pilates teacher, and my life's purpose is to contribute to the lives of each and every person whom I meet. My favourite line from the episode is the following "life is movement". Can't wait to buy and read your book. Thank you both. xoxo

Just 10 mins in I was in tears, this video came into my life when I needed it the most. Dealing with Degenerative Disc disease at 34 years old. Just this week I had xray,MRI and a CT Scan. I been told it will be lifetime of pain and just managing the pain. I have a team in my corner who isnt about popping pills which I love. I just started branching out to see how the human body can heal itself. I have my toes wet but this video explained so much. I had a horrible concussion about 1.5 year ago, still till this day I will randomly experience symptoms from my concussion. My blood work came back and it scared me. I learned in this video I need to give my brain the fuel it needs to help heal my body. Be more active again. I want to learn more about what my body needs and I do NOT want to in pain my whole life. I am STRONG enough to be pain free.

Thank you Jay, you are such a great host. You really have the gift to get the best out of your guests. The right ambiance, the right questions, the space to let them speak, to really listen and connect, to acknowledge the knowledge,.....I thought I would be too impatient to keep listening for more than an hour, but the content is so good, the communication is so pleasant and informative, it flew by. So lesson learned: I'm not impatiened, I just need to make a shift between listening to the right stuff and bs. Underlining the words off 1:26. It proves itself!! 1:18:....And litterally I was talking to friends this morning asking myself the same question: how come processed food is to be much cheaper than whole foods? I mean a lot of people want to eat bio, greens without the pesticides, real fertilizers instead of fake, you know what I mean, but its too expensive, so poor people fall back on fast food etc and keep the cycle going: poor, unhealthy, no longevity, misery, while rich people can provide in the healthy stuff and become the strong part of society. So why is the healthy stuff nuch more expensive?? When processed food needs to undergo so many unbeneficial steps, you would assume that all these extra steps cost more; more steps, more labour, more people, more time, why is it cheaper than the healthy whole foods.......I guess produce straight from mother nature isn't lucrative. When you stay healthy the whole health economy will crash. Now that cheap burger is a part of a whole unhealthy cycle, it earns itself back. Through doctors, through medicine, through hospitalization, through care..... that healthy apple is what it is and care for health stops right there! Just some thoughts.... Thank you.

How to let go and move on 100% after a relationship with a narcissist? When he was with me he was always into other women !always! texting them secretly doing things behind my back . Now everything’s over we blocked each other he still sometimes stalks me on fake accounts but it doesn’t matter it’s over. Now I’m trying to focus on myself love myself stop comparing myself to others…I even did a bad list about him to remind myself how he hurted me..just doing me. Unfortunately I can’t afford therapy! But I’ve been to break ups before it’s way way harder it’s been 4 months and still I have very difficult painful moments thinking about how he doesn’t even care and how he’s just living his best life with other females (even my friends or girls that I know) I don’t know if he’s doing this to hurt me . But honestly it hurts . How to let go in a narc situation? Any OTHER tips ? Can I manifest healing ? I’m so hurt and so low please anyone give me wise advice .
