🎬 In this Zach Pope Reviews video essay, we discuss why Longlegs is a true masterpiece of horror and how Longlegs blew my mind! This is a Longlegs movie review
In this Longlegs review and analysis, we delve deep into why Longlegs stands as a monumental achievement in the realm of horror cinema. Join me on a journey as I share how this film not only changed my perspective but also left an indelible mark on my mind.
My experience with Longlegs was anything but straightforward. Initially, I approached the film with a sense of curiosity but also skepticism, unsure if it would live up to the hype. However, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something truly unique about it, and oh, how grateful I am that I persisted.
Longlegs has since become a cinematic obsession, gripping me with its unparalleled storytelling, breathtaking visuals, and profound thematic depth. With each subsequent viewing, I uncover new layers, and the film's hold on me only strengthens. It's a testament to the craftsmanship of Osgood Perkins and his team, with stellar performances from Nicolas Cage, Maika Monroe, and the rest of the cast, who have created an experience that transcends mere entertainment.
In many ways, Longlegs harkens back to a golden era of horror filmmaking, reminiscent of the 1990s when suspense, psychological depth, and visionary storytelling reigned supreme. It evokes the same sense of dread and fascination as classics like The Silence of the Lambs, Se7en, and The Sixth Sense, leaving an indelible mark on audiences and creating lifelong fans in the process.
Join me as we explore why Longlegs is not just a film, but a transformative experience-one that pushes the boundaries of what is expected from horror cinema and sets a new standard for cinematic excellence, cementing Osgood Perkins as one of the greatest filmmakers of our time. Zach Pope gives you his Longlegs movie review, Longlegs video essay, and Longlegs explained video in this super in-depth analysis. Simply put, Longlegs is one of the best horror movies I've ever seen. Longlegs is a masterpiece, Longlegs is perfect, and Longlegs will change horror cinema forever.

I consider myself to be a horror veteran. I watch a lot of horror and very little especially mainstream stuff doesn’t scare me. The stuff that does scare me is things that make my skin crawl. Make me feel uneasy and like it’s something I shouldn’t be watching. The last American horror film (because foreign horror has no boundaries and has gotten me many times) to give me that unsettling experience was Hereditary. Now I can say without a shadow of doubt Longlegs joins that same league of horror. It made my blood run cold and there seemed to be what felt like an evil presence watching over me from the theater screen. This is what horror is made of and as a horror fan I am very satisfied but also disturbed. Nicolas Cage is going to haunt my dreams now and to be honest I’m all here for it! Maika Monroe was also incredible! I can’t stop thinking about this movie and it’ll be living rent free in my head for weeks and months to come.

I had just seen Longlegs now, and oh my god... it is probably gonna be stuck with me for days. I mean, I really loved this movie. The Cinematography was on point, Maika Monroe and Alicia Witt were magnificent and sound and score... God! But at the same time, I've never been more terrified when watching a movie. And NEVER did I ACTUALLY think that I would be scared of a Nicolas Cage role. Loved this movie though.

this might be messed up of me to say, but i wish we would’ve seen a couple more of the kills. all things consider, i loved it. the cinematography was amazing, i felt eerie the whole time. the twist wasn’t the best, but i think the rest of the film works for me so i don’t care too much. i don’t think it’s the scariest of the year, but it was very effective for me at least

It’s always a red flag to me when something is promoted as “scariest movie of the year, decade, etc.” Horror is low on my list of preferred genres anyway. It’s always the premise that requires a suspension of belief of normalcy, but with the serial killer angle the potential is always there for a character study. This is well made and intense, if overhyped and misleading

Okay- I would consider myself a little bit of a film buff and especially a horror movie enjoyer. I was near infinitely hyped for this film, and unfortunately started to piece together a lot of the plot beats that I thought was going to happen via the promotional material. I must say, this movie left me feeling very VERY differently exiting the theatre that I initially planned on feeling. This was not a movie that terrified me, yet it consumed me with dread and left a weight on my shoulders. It was incredibly acted, directed, and the cinematographer needs accolades for the shot composition of this film. That being said- I cannot in good conscious reccomend this film to anyone I care about. This is by a landslide, the most evil film I have ever seen in my 29 years on earth. I'm no pearl clutcher, I can separate fiction from fact and can enjoy things that I'm certain most other people of faith would gawk at. However, this movie had me praying immediately as I got to my car in the parking lot for protection and deliverance. That's all I have for my initial thoughts. I would recommend anyone who is to see this, be careful.

I went into the movie without seeing anything and it was okay. I found it to have a lot of plot holes when it came to her portrayal. I saw this and I would not say scariest of all time but, I will say it is very very very disturbing, uncomfortable, dread attack on senses, I feel it was a fresh breath and acting was amazing, I grew up with the Exorcist so I love slow burn movies and this is really a slow burn, there are many things that will slip by if you blink the whole time I was watching this movie I felt like I was next victim in a way some scary parts yes, but most of all disturbing very disturbing possibly the most disturbing I have ever seen. I have seen them all. In my personal opinion yes go in and cleanse all reviews and stuff you read or hear, don't expect anything just go to experience it. I am still a bit uneasy from the constant slow assault on senses visual and audio. I loved the ending and it totally worked mostly because it brought a sense of its not over even after it is over because ................EVIL! I have to go 5/5 on this movie across the board.

I just watched it and although very well acted it just didn't live up to the hype. I have been patiently waiting for this for months since I first read about it and tbh it just didn't deliver what I expected. Its so overhyped and for people to even compare Longlegs to masterpieces like Seven and Silence Of The Lambs is ridiculous. It feels too short and not enough happens, Cage isn't in it enough and the ending could've been so much better. Very well acted but it's far from a masterpiece. Cage just looks like Marilyn Manson but the film isn't scary at all. Seven 10/10 Silence Of The Lambs 9.5/10 The Shining 9/10 Hereditary 8.5/10 Longlegs 6.5/10

@@ZachPopeReviewsIt will rely on you to visit the website, watch in-depth reviews from people who analyze it and know the religious aspects that it’s going for, unless you happen to know about the satanic backstory. There’s a ton of things that are unanswered and make no logical sense. It does feel a bit made up as it goes along. Perhaps these things can become okay once you do your homework to understand them, but there’s still a lot of questions I have even after doing research. The script will put off a lot of people.
