My very first Mario game ever as a very young child! It’s a fantastic solid classic for the GBA it should get more love and attention because nowadays people just forget it exists… I remember this so well though out my childhood I would never forget this game as this was my very first Mario game I’ve ever played and my very first ever new Nintendo game of my childhood of the 2000’s I’ve been playing for 18 years as I’m 24 now.😊

Donkey Kong was never Mario’s first enemy. It was Cranky Kong. He’s clearly facing Modern DK

@@scottharris5461 Mario did NOT fight Cranky Kong, his father, Jumpman, did. And it was Jumpman that owned Cranky, before he snapped(and kidnapped the Original Pauline) in 1981's Donkey Kong. Mario is fighting the grown-up Donkey Kong Jr. (who is also the Donkey Kong of the classic three Donkey Kong Country games, and Donkey Kong 64, because in Donkey Kong 64, Cranky Kong calls Donkey Kong "son", not "Grandson", Donkey Kong Jr. is also the Baby DK in the Yoshi's Island DS remake). Modern DK, Donkey Kong the Third, will be fought by Mario later(mostly in the more recent MarioKarts, ALL of the Wii games they're in, you'll also fight Donkey Kong the Third in Wii's Punch-Out, and he is the Donkey Kong in BOTH Donkey Kongas, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and is the Donkey Kong in the modern two Donkey Kong Country games: Donkey Kong Country Returns, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze).

What fascinates me about this game is that it's loosely based off of DK '94. All the way from the movesets to some of the (returning) enemies, its amazing.

An amazing sequel (?) , follow up to Donkey Kong for the original Gameboy. Pure fun that gets challenging, but never to the point I wanted to give up. Sure I remember taking breaks, but mostly over thinking the later levels.

@LongplayArchive Considering that the latest Nintendo Direct (which, for any and *all* readers reading in this comment of mine in the -distant- *_far_* future, was on Thursday, September 14, 2023 (in the United States, anyway)) informed all those watching that _Mario vs. Donkey Kong_ is being remade for the Nintendo Switch (or _has already _*_been_* remade for the Nintendo Switch, for those reading this comment *after* the aforementioned remake has already come out, it's rather fitting that this video appeared on my list of "videos new to me" while I was browsing [through] KZfaq on the Fire TV of my living room earlier this afternoon (for future readers, on Monday, September 18, 2023 _(again,_ in the United States)). Doesn't anybody else think so? 🙂

The game is still fun, but am I the only one who thinks going with pre-rendered visuals was a bad idea. With the gba’s small resolution, the sprites look like garbage when blown up to a higher res. Imo they should have use traditional sprites like dk94
