Join me as I begin my journey in restoring a a classic chevy pick up. In this video I take along one of the junk yards I visited trying to find a project, we see classic truck parts, truck beds and chevy project cabs as I get up close with what a project car or parts actually is and see what we can use and what is absolute rust. Here I learn the difference in finding a good project with my friend Kents guidance. After going through so many different truck parts, chevy short beds, chevy long beds, rusted cabs, trucks that are not finished but waiting for a home, we come across a complete 1972 Chevrolet C10 with less than 40k miles! Follow me as I take on my first restoration project and decide whether I am going to get a full truck or find pieces to put together and make a truck!

I was cringing when you were in the junk yard ... so glad you left it. Your friend looks like he will keep you from making mistakes. Texas is covered in trucks (I know you already got one) and it's funny because not that long ago they were cheap. This journey should be fascinating. I know your having fun and that's the main thing. You have already connected with the people side, let the show begin! Hahaha

Rana, I gave you the "I don't want to sell it price" when you were here, on the 71 SWB in the shop. It is now for sale, at $22.5K. Dean at the Truckfarm in Kodak, TN.

Hey Dean no worries everything happens for a reason I was able to find a truck that I could tear down to pieces and rebuild so that’s what I am doing now, I will keep an eye open if there is someone interested in the truck! Also let me know when you get new stock, I’m always up for looking through the yard!

Interesting for you to take us on your hunt. Very entertaining. I hope you find what you want for the price point. I had a 77 Cheyenne bought new then and kept for 20 years. Be looking forward to seeing you find your gem.

I am happy to see you do a attempt at doing one for you and your beloved. Its not a cheap undertaking plus if wanted done in any short period of time, may just double costs. Glad to see that you have someone you can trust to guide you along. Twenty eight thousand is way way too much for the type of refurbish your going to do. "Silas of Adventures made from Scratch" has been doing crushing for a good bit as his whole family is into it. Silas doesn't save anything if it has much rust on part of it. He will sell most anything and sometimes its a steal where other times, he is getting all the meat on the bones. Located in central Kansas where rust is just not on many rigs unless buried in it. Also tons of barn findings. Mrs Ranas Radar.... I have made a few comments right along so you already know that I'm a old man who had he found you and I'd been forty years younger... well I'd a tried to convince you that I was the one to be that forever guy. I am coming to a point here..... if you were to go into that area and go kinda door to door where many farmers are my age, you would be able to find and get a very very nice rig from their barn for plumb little to nothing. That pretty smile of yours almost makes a guy my age want to give ya a nice truck to remember one of us or better yet, save their rig they had since they were your age now, fresh from highschool and make it possible for it not to be crushed. They have most every rig they owned from back then cause metal wasn't worth a whole lot, and so their rigs are all over in tree stands or other places that they just parked them to get a newer rig. Those would be parts trucks and the really nice ones are in barns or other nicer places to keep out of the weather and heat. Sure they might ask for a few dollars for something they have some value into one. I have heard of stories like it was the rig that they dated their prospective lady in or just you know stuff similar back home in Australia. Almost all them have a cool story about a rig and their kids don't want this old junk to them. Young folks are a leaning towards a four door sedan from Japan or Italy... maybe Germany... they are the people that get those fast high dollar race cars. The ones that Dennis Collins or Richard Rollins have in their showrooms. I am so tired now so must close.... so with my usual true self, ask you to give yourself a hug from me and to have great success in this plan for your own beautiful show truck

Thank you Morgan always nice to hear from you, it was fun for me to get up close to what most people start off with and see the rust in person. I’ll keep in mind what you said. Look after yourself.

Rana I think I would have gone to eBay Motors for the starter truck, just sayin. For sure find one with a perfect grill because no one makes originals.
