There's a fair chance that even the queens in the capped cells have been stung by the emerged queen. Last season I had this in one of my hives and was fortunate enough to be there as they were emerging. I could hear the pipping sounds from the emerged virgins and even ones not yet emerged.

That was the perfect opportunity to make a vertical split using a double screen board.

I think if I took anything away from that hive in its current state I would only get closer to loosing it.

@@aussiebeekeeping A double screen board doesn't have to be about increasing no. of hives. It can be used to increase your chances of getting one of the two queens mated and then recombined back into one colony.

Good point. I actually made one a couple of weeks ago. Three days away from harvesting my first Queen cells using a double screen board. :)

That was a crazy hive...i don't think I've ever seen so many queen cells before in one hive. Wow!! I hope the Virgin Queen gets mated soon and returns safely!!

I did think that at the time bt they weren’t that big 12 days prior. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ptGCqs2HzcmUY3U.htmlsi=OkAtGL6LhUn_H0KM I think the chalk brood has pushed them to Requeen.

Ive seen that in one of my hives be for. 12day ago they where good id say you squashed the queen and they just made a tone of cells mine did the same.

That did cross my mind. Maybe she was on the bottoms board when I tipped it out last time. 12 days to make a queen is pretty good too. One to watch. Might fix the chalk brood.
