Lost was a show that introduced so many mysteries over the course of six seasons that fans were nervous about how it would all wrap up in the finale. Ultimately, the ABC drama disappointed a lot of viewers with “The End,” as it seemed to go in a predictable and unsatisfying direction, but there might be more to the show’s final episode than you realized the first time. From the truth about whether the characters actually died in a plane wreck to the meaning of all those scenes set in an alternate reality, let’s take a look at the explanation of the ending of Lost.

Yeah, it was beautiful how she got engaged to someone else, and we never got any insight into her personal life or why she even cares about Desmond. Let's face it, her character was a one-note trophy. An object of affection for Desmond to chase. We saw his POV, not hers. It wasn't a love story.

I think they have diferent qualities of terrible. The Lost Creators actually hurt us a lot, because we where hoping for some, or ONE... well , consistent asnwer to all the secrets. GoT was just a cheap sell out, telling mus much more about D & D, two privileged Kids at the right time and place, with the right amount of money. Or to point it out like that : Lost tried, and failed. D & D treid kind of, did not have the talent, and then stopped caring. U feel the difference when wathcing. Lets be jsut happy , its both over, and never truist the makers of Lost, o D & D again. i am kind of happy, that D & D went to star wars, because the shitpile on that franhcise is like overcomplete now :-)

Lost wasn’t terrible it was just too ambiguous. Game of Thrones was too rushed. They tried to tie up all of the plot points in less episodes than originally anticipated. My vote for worst would be Dexter. Nonsensical garbage.

@@FeanorRocky I think you should reconsider trusting at least Damon Lindloff from Lost again even though Lost kinda failed. He created one of the all time best shows "the Leftovers" and you can also hear positive things about the new watchmen. The Problem with Lost was in many ways the network. They had a hit show and basically made the showrunners go on forever with plenty of episodes untill the showrunners realized that their show is getting worse and then they decided to end it after another 3 seasons which is a compromise as well and went on as before. Also JJ Abrams fault who just starts shit like Lost, star wars or star trek without knowing where to go with it and then wants to abandon ship. Money and lack of dedication is nowadays the most common cause for bad storytelling. D&D wanted that sweet star wars and netflix money even though hbo was dedicated to more seasons and abc wrecked Lost for greed and JJ is just a bitch for anything that promises commercial success.

Maybe that was their plan all along! They waited 5 years, then they spent 10 more years creating a brilliant and great TV show to get everyone's attention - then they botched the ending on purpose to make people like the Lost finale a little more xD

I was almost lost for that period, but it hit home *real good* when they prematurely ended the series with a doctored up 6th season to a story that was supposed to continue. I was lost at that point. Before that I was keeping up IIRC. At least that was my feeling. They quit due to cost and a yearning for getting back to the Hollywood life... I dunno.

@@eze7295 The start of the series and the first 2-3 seasons were great, but then it got worse, it had a lot of plot holes and things were weird, in my opinion. 1. They weren’t dead the whole time 2. The flash-sideway was the bridge between their death and heaven. They had to amend/deal with their regrets/struggles. Jack had to be a father so that he could experience what his father went through and finally forgive him. Sayid helped Nadia’s husband because he blamed himself for her death in real life. Ben helped Alex with her Yale application because he blamed himself for her death. After they dealt their complexes, finally they arrived at the church 3. Even though they died in different times, they all met at the heaven as if they just died. There was no waiting in heaven. When Kate said to Jack at the concert, “I missed you so much”..she meant that she lived a lonely life after his death. 4. The bomb didn’t work. Ben wasn’t on that plane. Still he was a part of the flash sideways. So the “plane didn’t crash because the bomb go off” theory isn’t correct. 5. Richard’s curse was over. He wasn’t immortal. His hair turned grey. 6. Ben couldn’t let go off the guilt/regret of Alex’s death. That’s why he didn’t enter the church. Also there’s a chance Ben tried to betray Hurley after he replaced Jack. When Hurley said, “Ben, you were a great number 2”, I felt like Hugo was trying to forgive Ben for something 7. Dr chang was the host of the Dharma initiative videos. He was the also host of the charity concert. Maybe he found redemption too 8. Jacob’s death was little undercooked. The only way someone could kill him if the person stabbed him before he could speak. But before dying, Jacob had a full conversation with Ben.

It was truly written for the fans, giving you details spanning backwards that was very hard for anyone but hardcore fans to pick up on and understand, and remember. It's an amazing show and I usually tell people that Season 2 and half-way into 3 is the 'tough phase' - where things just becomes stranger and stranger, and you are left with more and more questions. But then, somewhere there in S03 small trickles of answers appear. If you still do not like this show when S03 has gone through half way ...then you can stop right there. But if you do - it's the most amazing show I've ever seen and I'm already looking forward seeing it again.... just convinced a colleague at work to see it and he's binged four seasons in 3 weeks time now.

I just finished watching it and imo, it's the best ending this show could've gotten. I absolutely adored the ending, by far my favorite of all time. Yeah, the writing throughout this season was a bit off, a bit too on the nose, I get that but the direction they went with, was satisfying and heartbreaking at the same time.

Can you explain the ending? Did they all die or they'll just continue with their lives in "parallel world" with the person they loved while being on the island?
@josephbrown9685
@josephbrown9685 2 жыл бұрын
@@filipzdelar7125 All of the stuff on the island actually happened. They weren’t dead the whole time. Christian Shepherd explains it in the finale inside the church. The personal connections that they all made on the island were so significant that when they all eventually died at different times and in different places, they were reunited in the afterlife, which was what was happening in the entirety of season 6 while they were off island. They all had to “wake up” and realize where they were. I was satisfied by the ending, though some people weren’t. It was inevitable that not everyone would like it because expectations were too high. I appreciated the journey as much or more than the destination. It’s still my favorite TV show ever.

People that say the show just kept adding mysteries at random should rewatch it. Clues were left from the start of it all. The showrunners seemed to have known exactly what we discover in season six. Locke is playing backgammon in season 1 and jack finds jacobs and the smoke monsters stones in the cave where their mothers corpse is as well. I remember not liking the ending years ago but after a rewatch i realize i must have been unable to grasp it. Pretty unique show with much food for thought.

At this point I can safely say that if you did not enjoy the ending, its because you truly didn't understand what the series was about.

The ending where they all meet at the same time and place makes sense. Time only exists on earth, not in eternity. The time we spend here on earth will seem as just a flash when we look upon it with the perspective of eternal beings. That's why when we meet friends and relatives and ancestors again in the afterlife, despite having all passed on at different times, it will be almost as though we had never been separated. We can then move on into eternity, with this lifetime having been just one of infinite opportunities to have learned through our short experience here. Namaste.

Doesn't make sense actually if we are meant believe Kate, Sawyer, Clair and Aaron all lived long lives after the events on the Island. Why are they still young, why is Aaron still a baby, didn't he grow up and become his own person?. Also why would they meet up with the Islanders in the afterlife if they moved on with their lives and had families and made new friends why pass to the other side with the islanders?.

Same. I just now watched all of it and I was worried as well. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they wrapped it all up. I assumed the show would end without any explanation, but they did a pretty great job at wrapping it all up. Not sure why there was so much hate for the latter couple of seasons on the show. The REAL truth is that, by Season Six, they had painted themselves into so many corners and had run out of time to explain everything. For example, the ancient symbols from the Middle East, the portal with the ship wheel that led to the middle if the desert, the whole Atom bomb going off thing, the ghostly cabin in the woods that kept shifting, etc, etc. They decided to just say F' it.....we'll just do the purgatory thing and call it a day.

The show is truly magical. It was the 2nd tv-show I ever watched as a teenager after Prison Break. Back then the show was amazing, but I was so disappointed because of the ending. I had come to the understanding as is said at 0:41 - they were all dead from the beginning, and this, 10 years ago, gave me such an empty feeling... "I wasted my time watching it". Now 10 years later, I just rewatched it, and it was an amazing experience. Getting to relieve this story with new eyes and a different perspective on the world. Although remembering pieces of the show and getting new ones. I was probably too young to understand the show back then, at least like I do now.. Just finished the last episode and had to confirm my thoughts on the finale of the show, and the first 5 minutes of this video just confirmed everything, so now I can finally put the thought of them all being dead all along to rest. I really like the title 'Lost'. The actors are lost, the plot can be lost (and found), I was lost watching it. The series really was ahead of its time!

This makes me realize how much I miss this show. I was never confused as to what happened at the end of the last season, I was disappointed because during the entirety of the last season, I feel like I was led to believe the flashes were showing us what the characters' lives would have been if the plane crash had never taken place, and I loved the idea of them randomly attaining memories of this life they had never lived on the island but in the last episode it just went in a completely different direction. I feel like it was so close to sticking that landing but just barely missed it. Thankfully Fringe did a much better job at closing their story out and it's one of my favorite tv shows. I definitely won't let the last episode of Lost to tarnish the amazing show it was because it is still one of a kind.

Nick DiBartolomeo I was honestly hoping that was the case. It’s a good ending in its own way, but it would’ve been cool if the sideways story with gaining the memory back was the way it went. It would be kinda hard to explain why it was happening though
@LarsFerdinand
@LarsFerdinand 4 жыл бұрын
@Nick DiBartolomeo If it ended like that, you'd be whining and bitching on how the island was just a dream and nothing ever happened so they landed in LAX and the island was just a "could be" dreamy place. Which would be way more dissatisfying for me. Loved it the first time. Everytime I rewatch the show, it just seems more and more rich, even the ending. So... What they did in the final season was brilliant, up until the next 10 min you still was believing everything would be "as if it never happened" and then BOOM, complete turn of events. So yes, amazing ending, you even admited it with this comment. It's just that your whining and position of "fandom" at the time didn't allowed you to trully appreciate LOST and its closure.

@MattrickBT
@MattrickBT 4 жыл бұрын
@@ChampaBayBeast The idea that they changed things as they went is incorrect. The began planning the endgame during season 3, which is why Kate and Sawyer were building the runway for Ajira 815 in season 5. The endgame was officially being solidified between seasons 3 and 4 and why they announced there would be 3 more seasons at reduced episode counts. The only real changes they made were reducing season 4 due to the WGA strike. Basically they were building to the end for 60-70% of the show, which is more than you can say for most shows who literally make it up as they go and then find a way to end it...if they even get that far. Most people who say this just have crappy memories and forget that things in the show are set up sometimes seasons ahead. Or they simply have trouble piecing together a large story with tons of little things to remember. Sure there were ideas and things introduced early in the show like Walt's abilities that didn't come to fruition, but that's extremely common in TV and Book Series. If you think shows sit down and map out 6 seasons right of the bat, you don't understand how writing works. Ideas change or become less tenable over time. The first 6 episodes of The Walking Dead show zombies holding objects and manipulating a door knob, things zombies don't do for the rest of the series and are now incongruent. Creative changes happen.
